ORBI firmware version 2.0.0.74 is failing! I have used the ORBI RBK50 system since Apr 2017. While running the 1.xx.xx firmware, the conection was incredibly reliable & fast. I had max speeds from all my devices: several PCs running Windows 10, & an iMac running Sierra (10.12)[High Sierra (10.13) since Sep 25th]. I had reliably uploaded/downloaded hundreds of GB of data each month. This included successful backups to Crashplan & later IDrive. I was very happy with my ORBI. On Oct 1st, I updated my firmware to version 2.0.0.74. By Oct 2nd, I began having significant connectivity problems. Since then, I have tried several suggestions from another thread but the failures continued. Today, I performed the following steps: Factory reset all devices (router & 2 satellites) Performed initial installation Changed satellite names to Satellite-1 & Satellite-2 Rebooted xfinity router Rebooted ORBI router Restarted IDrive backup The connection is still failing! I am lucky to backup a handful of files before IDrive reports a dropped connection! I am not happy. I feel NETGEAR caused this problem with the 2.0.0.74 update. I will be very pissed if I have to pay for premium support to solve this problem!SolvedOrbi RBS50 no 2.4GHz connection to router
RBR50 & RBS50 Firmware V1.8.0.6 - Router and Satellite Came across this the other day, I logged into the RBS50 to see what I could see, I noticed that the image on the main page showed the status of the connection. 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz. In the image below, you will see the 5.0GHz shows as connected, and the 2.4GHz frequency shows (No Connection). This isn't explained very well anywhere, I was initially of the thought that the 2.4GHz band wasn't connected right, then I remembered the Orbi has a dedicated band to connect to the router from the satellite. This simply states there are no devices connected on the 2.4GHz frequency on the RBS50 (Satellite). If someone from Netgear happens to read this, maybe update that to read: (No Connected Devices) or (No Devices Connected) Just in case someone thinks the satellte isn't working properly like I did for a couple minutes.... ok, days... until I had time to dedicate to looking at this. Help this helps someone. SteveRBS50 Disconnecting
My Orbi RBS50 (satellites) has been disconnecting consistently, it would disconnect and a few seconds later turn blue. Thinking that the issue would resolve itself, I've let it continue for about two weeks now. Then I took to the forums and tried everything: I've updated both the RBR50 and RBS50 to the current firmware (V2.1.3.4) I've factory reset the system - when option one failed I'm now about to toss it and find something else I don't know what might have caused these disconnections between the router and the satellites. The positions of the satellites have been the same for almost a year now. I've let the router and satellites auto-update - until now. Please help! I am a student and I'm taking a couple of online courses; on 4/4/2018 I've disconnected during one of my online exams, my heart sank to the deepest depths possible.Trouble adding another Orbi Satellite to existing Orbi setup
The Model field won't let me enter the actual item I'm talking about, which is the RBS50 (Orbi satellite) A couple months ago I set up an Orbi system in our house (one router, connected to an existing Netgear modem/router - with the wireless radio disabled - and two Orbi satellites). I had no issues setting everything up and getting the satellites to sync with the Orbi router; I didn't even have to push the "sync" buttons, it connected on its own. Side note: The performance has been good the closer we are to the router and satellites, of course, but I did find something odd that I didn't expect. A bit disappointing too. The wireless strength was actually *weaker* after the Orbis were put into place than the strength we'd had with just the Netgear modem/router when its radio was turned on. Why would that be? Did the satellites somehow not really sync, despite the light code indications that they did? I don't understand this. I figured the strength would be much better than before and that I wouldn't even need any additional equipment. Anyway, because of this issue, I've since purchased a third satellite to put in a different place in the house, but when I plug it in, and it starts up, it just stays lit with a white light. It never syncs on its own. Now, I know I'm supposed to press the "sync" button on the satellite and then the router but my fear of doing that is this: will is somehow disrupt the other existing connections and I'll have to manually re-sync everything again afterwards?Solved
