13 TopicsOrbi Satellite RBS50 Not Connecting via Ethernet
Hello all! Our home is fairly large and was built by the Moravians (lots of stone), so we needed to connect the satellites via an ethernet cable. So recently I updated the Orbi RBR50, and RBS50's to firmware Version 2.1.2.18, which I was told makes them possible to connect via the ethernet. Now, one satellite is hooked up via the ethernet, but the other changes between the ethernet and 5G connection and gives significantly slower speeds. I've tried resetting it to factory settings and reinstalling the firmware. Is there still something wrong? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks so much ahead of time for all the help!SolvedRBS50 Disconnecting
My Orbi RBS50 (satellites) has been disconnecting consistently, it would disconnect and a few seconds later turn blue. Thinking that the issue would resolve itself, I've let it continue for about two weeks now. Then I took to the forums and tried everything: I've updated both the RBR50 and RBS50 to the current firmware (V2.1.3.4) I've factory reset the system - when option one failed I'm now about to toss it and find something else I don't know what might have caused these disconnections between the router and the satellites. The positions of the satellites have been the same for almost a year now. I've let the router and satellites auto-update - until now. Please help! I am a student and I'm taking a couple of online courses; on 4/4/2018 I've disconnected during one of my online exams, my heart sank to the deepest depths possible.Major Failures After Firmware 2.0.0.74 Upgrade!
ORBI firmware version 2.0.0.74 is failing! I have used the ORBI RBK50 system since Apr 2017. While running the 1.xx.xx firmware, the conection was incredibly reliable & fast. I had max speeds from all my devices: several PCs running Windows 10, & an iMac running Sierra (10.12)[High Sierra (10.13) since Sep 25th]. I had reliably uploaded/downloaded hundreds of GB of data each month. This included successful backups to Crashplan & later IDrive. I was very happy with my ORBI. On Oct 1st, I updated my firmware to version 2.0.0.74. By Oct 2nd, I began having significant connectivity problems. Since then, I have tried several suggestions from another thread but the failures continued. Today, I performed the following steps: Factory reset all devices (router & 2 satellites) Performed initial installation Changed satellite names to Satellite-1 & Satellite-2 Rebooted xfinity router Rebooted ORBI router Restarted IDrive backup The connection is still failing! I am lucky to backup a handful of files before IDrive reports a dropped connection! I am not happy. I feel NETGEAR caused this problem with the 2.0.0.74 update. I will be very pissed if I have to pay for premium support to solve this problem!SolvedLog errors, need config help please. (BTHHB5/Orbi)
Hi Up until yesterday I was using a Netgear Dm200 with my Orbi but was getting horrendous dropouts. I was unable to change it to modem only so I dug out my old BTHH5 from under the bed and reinstalled it in 'modem' only mode by disabling wifi banding and DHCP - having read some posts on how to do this, but I think I've gone askew somewhere!! :( I've attached logs from the BT HH5 and Orbi RBR50 and screenshots of the IP setups (hopefully). BT IP screenshot Orbi IP screenshot I know the BTHHB's are not particularly great devices and I am also considering replacing it with another modem if it continues to drop. BT Log Orbi Log Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you, LaurenFirmware Upate 2.0.1.4
I’m currently on 2.1.2.18 on the RBR50/RBS50, and I see there is a firmware update on the support page showing version 2.0.1.4. That seems like it may be an older release, which makes me wonder if I should avoid installing it. Has anyone else installed it, or is this just for a specific issue?ALERT TO USERS RBR50/RBS50 you may have to do a manual FIRMWARE update
ALERT TO USERS RBR50/RBS50 your systems may not show that a NEW firmware update is advalable when under Advanced / Firmware you choose "CHECK" I had to do a manuel update. I know that the average user does not even check for updates. It was my hope that these newer devices where going to auto update firmware. Looks like we are now going to have these devices all over the world that will never be updated. What a same.Issue with my Orbi Satellite
So wondering if someone can help me on this. My orbi satellite has been acting up recently not broadcasting wifi. Before I get into it, I have power cycled the router, the satellite, the router and the satellite, I have updated firmware manually, reset to factory defaults... twice, all to no avail... Also I know the satellite was not bum off the line because it worked fine in the past for some time (I've had the system for close to 6 months with no prior issues). Anyways, the issue appears to be the satellite has wifi "disabled" but I can't find a way to turn it on (no switch on the hardware, no option when logged into the satellite through either its direct IP admin page or through the router admin page). Going in through the router admin page shows the satellite as a "connected device" but doesn't recognize it as a satellite. Further, reseting the satellite and synching manually yields a blue light (never magenta) but still the router page doesn't recognize the satellite as a "satellite" - only a "connected device". And finally, logging into the admin page for the satellite itsefl yields a picture showing the satellite connected to the router, but specifically stating the wifi for both the 2.4 and 5.0 channels as "disabled". Anyone have any ideas? Its really quite frustrating, especially how expensive these units are and the amount of time I've had it. ThanksDevices not connecting to Satellite
I am curious... I have a device that is literally 3 feet from the satellite, and about 25 from the actual router. Why is the device not connecting to the Satelilte? Looking at my list of devices, everything is connected to the router and noting to the router, even thought some devides are further past the satellite and Router (i.e. 20 feet from Satellite and about 40 feet from Router). Looking at the control panel it shows the router is connected to the router. RBK50 (Or is it RBR50 for the Router) RBS50 (Satellite) Router Firmware Version V2.0.0.74
