RN626X Incompatible with Drives built under RN516? Swapped my RN516 drives to my RN626X (same firmware level, 6.6.1). Volume immediately marked unavailable on boot. PRIORITY support tech just openly voiced that it wasn't possible. So... No one can ever just swap drives to any of the new units!? You're supposed to build a new volume and copy the data over?Any 626s in the wild yet? Love it? Hate it? Let us know!
I'm looking to upgrade from my Ultra 4 Plus to the recently released RN626X. Although, ordering one may take some time given the product was just announced in September. That said, has anyone taken the plunge and could give some feedback on your experience so far. I'd be interested as I'm sure others would be too who are in the market for a newer NAS. I'll admitt that I also looked at the competitiion but truth be told they didn't seem to offer the performance compared to Netgear's products. The reviews for some were also all over the place. I did some digging and came across a couple reviews but would sitll like to hear from users. http://www.anandtech.com/show/10633/netgear-brings-broadwellde-to-cots-nas-units-with-new-10g-readynas-lineup http://www.storagereview.com/netgear_expands_readynas_family_with_five_new_nas_systems Any feedback is appreciated. Apparently factory default to RAID5 is still standard on 6-bay units, even with ReadyOS 6.6+. I realize most customers might not want/need this, but the work of allowing the factory install complete, destroying the volume, creating a Flex-RAID RAID6 volume, then converting it: Takes a substantial amount of time, both for the hardware and customer Likely results in sub-optimal volume layout Can't the OS just provide a selectable option on Factory Default? Advice, suggestions, etc.?2.9KViews1like9Comments
