ReadyDR
10 TopicsReadyDR job failure: Input/output error
I use a RN526X as my primary NAS and use a RN314 for backup and for the ReadyDR jobs. I have has ongoing issues where the 314 becomes Read Only after about two weeks of backups. I did a factory restore about 2 weeks ago and have not shut off the 314 since and everything was working fine until a couple of days ago. Now, the backup job is continuing to run correctly but all the DR jobs fail with this error message: ReadyDR job failure: Input/output error [DR Folder Name] The 314 is fully accessible on the network and via ReadyCloud. I have checked and recycled the router the 314 is connected to and it seems fine. Any idea what is wrong and how to correct? Hi, I can't delete an old ReadyNas DR share I set up while testiing months ago. I get the following error in the web interface. "Could not delete share due to snapshot deleteion failure, Code 1004030000" I have tried updating to 6.7.5 and so rebooted. I have downloaded the logs from the NAS and the following looks like the issue Jun 26 10:38:47 NAS01 snapperd[3632]: Snapper delete-config Jun 26 10:38:47 NAS01 snapperd[3632]: loading 208 failed Jun 26 10:38:47 NAS01 snapperd[3632]: delete subvolume failed, ioctl(BTRFS_IOC_SNAP_DESTROY) failed, errno:39 (Directory not empty) Jun 26 10:38:47 NAS01 snapperd[3632]: THROW: deleting btrfs snapshot failed Jun 26 10:38:47 NAS01 snapperd[3632]: THROW: deleting snapshot failed Jun 26 10:38:47 NAS01 snapperd[3632]: CAUGHT: deleting snapshot failed Any ideas how to remove it ? I have finally installed OS6 onto my Ultra 6+, in order to make use of ReadyDR. I am pulling the snapshots from a 316, once a day. The smart snapshot schedule on the source is hourly. Firstly in order to get it to work I had to import the key from the destination onto the source which is the opposite of the instructions on the KB. The instructions to install the key from the source onto the destination NAS only works if it is a push job, it seems if it is a Readydr pull job then the key needs to be generated on the destination NAS and imported onto the source. Is this expected behaviour, if so could the KB be corrected? Secondly it is not clear what happens with hourly snapshots as the backup time is exactly the same as one of the hourly snapshots. If a snapshot is being taken at the time the Readynas pulls the snapshots what will happen? I think this may have created a problem on my unit where one of the ReadyDR backups stalled. Hovering over the Status indicator showed the backup running and more data transferred than was actually in the share at that time (this was the first backup). All the other Readydr backups had completed and the Readydr shares had exactly the same amount of data as in the source share (as expected). I was unable to cancel the job, even after a reboot and attempting to disable snapshot access. I was also unable to manually delete snapshots in the destination. I also could not delete the Readydr share as there was an error ( unable to delete snapshot. ) I could delete the Readydr job however. I eventually had to factory default the destination NAS to get rid of that particular Readydr share. What happens to snapshot pruning in the destination NAS, does this follow the source? I don't think this has anything to do with the fact that I'm running OS 6 on a legacy unit. Perhaps the job settings need a more precise time setting to avoid clashes with snapshot times? Finally after setting up and running just a single Readydr job for a very small share (1.0 MB space) the Readydr share indicates 1.0 MB space used, but on the volume tab the volume data indicates 289 MB of snapshots. If I then delete the Readydr share, this 289 MB disappears. Am I misunderstanding something here?6.1KViews0likes17CommentsCannot delete ReadyDr Share /Disk space utilisation
I have previously setup a ReadyDR job (local to local i.e. within the same Readynas) to test the process, I subsequentley deleted the job and then tried to delete share created by the ReadyDR job. The deletion of the share failes with the error message 'Cound not delete share due to snapshot deletion failure' Code 1004030000. I also have other ReadyDr jobs that are running sucessfully between this ReadyNas 516 and a ReadyNas 2100 (destination) but what I am noticing is that the free space on the ReadyNas 516 (source) is being reduced by 0.01 TB each day. There currently is not a signiticant amount of change on the systyem and I am concerned that the ReadyDR jobs are generating additional consuption of disk space. Any suggestions on 1) Removing the share and 2) on disk space utilisation. Currently running firmaware, 6.6.0 on both devices.Solved4.8KViews0likes5CommentsReadyDR Not Working
I had ReadyDR working fine and now it has stopped again. I have a RN526X as my main server and a RN314 as a backup server. Both are running OS 6.6.0. The RN526X is in a downstairs office and the 314 is in an upstairs office and powers up in the evening to do a backup (using Rsync) of the 526X and for the ReadyDR jobs. To create the ReadyDR jobs I did the Key exchange from the 526 and imported it to the 314. I created several shares on the 314 (i.e. PicturesDR) and set up a ReadyDR job from the (Local) Pictures share on the 526 to the (Remote) PicturesDR share on the 314. I have confirmed that the IP address for both servers is correct. When I try to manually run the ReadyDR job, the 526 shows the job ran (although it is almost instantanious) but nothing appears in the DR share on the 314. I have deleted all of the ReadyDR jobs and recreated them. I have deleted the key and did a new key exchange and checked all the settings but it still doesn't work. I feel like I am forgetting something, especially since I had this working one before but I can't find what I am doing wrong. I should also mention that the regular Rsync backp job is running correctly so I know the two units are talking to each other. I also am not getting any error messages. The 526 ReadyDR jobs all have a green dot next to them and say Idle and the Last backup only changes when I try to so do a manual ReadyDR (Start) but nothng happens and the History is blank. Any help would be appreciated. regards, DavidSolved4.3KViews0likes7CommentsSeveral Backup Questions
I have searched the community boards for some help but haven't found what I need. I apologize in advance if this is a duplicatre. I have a RN526X as my main server and a RN314 which is set up on a different floor of my house which is set up to be the backup to the 526X. Both are running OS 6.6. I have set up several back-up jobs using the Rsync process with the ReadyNAS Backup Manager, creating one for each share. I have also set up ReadyDR jobs for each of the Snapshots within each share. Everything is running fine but I have a couple of questions. 1. Is it possible to just do a single back-up job for the entire Data volume rather than a backup of each share? If so, how is it set-up? 2. Currently, I do not have a back-up job set up for the Home share or for the individual Home folders within the Share. The Rsync function is grayed out in that share so I can't find a way to set it up. Can anyone provide some instructions on how to best back up the Home folders? 3. I currently have the back-up jobs running once a week. As I put more data on the 526X I may increase that but for now, the data isn't changing that often. I have the back-up jobs set up to start subsequent hours, 12:00 noon, 1:00, 2:00, etc. so that one job can finish before the next one starts. Is that necessary or can I set all of the backup jobs to start at the same ime and let the server manage it? 4. I have the ReadyDR jobs set to run weekly. I believe that means they wil run on Sunday night/Monday morning at midnight. Is there a way to change that similar to how the backups can be scheduled? 5. I have the Snapshot Access for the Home shares turned on but they are not visible for the purposes of seting up a ReadyDR job for the Home Snapshots. Is there a way to do this? I am signed in to the Admin page and should have full Admin rights. Thanks for any help you can offer. Regards, David3.1KViews0likes4CommentsReady DR Job Failure
I have a ReadyNAS 526X that has Several ReadyDR jobs that are sent to a ReadyNAS 314. Both units are running OS 6.6 The ReadyDR has been working perfectly for weeks and starting 2 days ago I started getting the following errors: ReadyDR job failure: Communication error on send (VideoDR). The (VideoDR) is the target directory on the 314. There is an identical message for each of four shares that are on the 526X and set to go to the RN314. There is a fifth share and that one has the following messagw: ReadyDR job failure: Unknown error 255. I had a similar problem one before but that was due to the fact that I changed routers and lost the IP addresses for the two ReadyNAS units. This time I have checked and the IP addresses are still correct for each unit. Any thoughts on what happened and how to correct it?Solved6.2KViews0likes13CommentsReadyDR - backup home directory shares?
The "ReadyDR" FAQ's seem to skip over any mention on if it's supported for backing up "home" shares. On my own OS 6.6 devices, however, I don't seem to have that option (though I do have snapshots working on those home shares.) Is ReadyDR supported for home shares? If so, how can I enable it? (or perhaps I'm experiencing a bug related to active directory shares.. again?) (readynas 516, OS 6.6.0, On an active directory domain, snapshots enabled for the home shares, and backing up the "Home Folders" works fine with an old-style rsync job.) Hola!
