ReadyNAS OS 6 on Legacy models
998 TopicsOS6 now works on x86 Legacy WARNING: NO NTGR SUPPORT!
Update: It is now unofficially possible using NTGR images to update legacy hardware to os6.X See Post #3, for directions to install 6.2.1 on x86 Ultra and Pro Models. (ARM NOT SUPPORTED by this OS) Be forewarned, this requires a SYSTEM WIPE and likely voids any warranty support from NTGR Supported so far: pro 2/4/6, ultra 2/4/6, old pro / Pioneer Pro, 2100v2 Not Supported: NVX and 2100v1 Thanks go out to "HomeBrew Anonymous" for making this possible. Update 2: A firmware image to downgrade back to 4.2.26 is now available. See this thread. While this downgrade should get you a working system again on the supported firmware, be forewarned this requires a SYSTEM WIPE and NetGear also does not provide support for this downgrade. If you have issues seek help on these forums. Original Post/Gripes I have been reading these forums since Monday's announcement and there has been a resounding "ooof" regarding the fact the Ultras and Pros are unsupported for future OS improvements. To clear the air: it would appear Netgear will never support os6 on past hardware. I have almost come to grips with this, and at least they have been open and honest with their forward direction and aren't stringing us along. viewtopic.php?f=138&t=70131 The upside is our devices still work and are mostly stable and eventually we can upgrade to a new shell that has os6 support, but in the meantime our $500-1000 investment is unable to take advantage of modern features we all desire. I don't think I can add a poll here at RN forums, but I would like to garner support for a 100% unsupported home brew of the os6 on Pro6 units. If we get enough support perhaps a talented member(s) here would help release a homebrew of sorts. The 3 main caveats are: 1. Netgear will never be held responsible/your warranty is void 2. A format is required (new FS and OS) 3. Data loss is highly possible If you are still interested please post a reply to this thread.Solved141KViews9likes1274CommentsUltra 6 OS Upgrade from 4.2.30 to OS 6
Hello, I have an ReadyNAS Ultra 6 (RNDU6000-100NAS) running RAIDiator 4.2.30. It has 6 Seagate 3TB drives in it. Since the system is out of warranty, I would like to replace OS 4.2.30 with OS 6.x (whatever OS 6 version you recommend). Here are my questions on this: 1. Can someone point me to the procedures to do this upgrade? 2. Will I lose all data in doing the upgrade? I can back it all up elsewhere if need be. 3. Does a Factory Default need to be performed? 4. Are there any limitations/shortcomings for the NAS after it has been upgraded? For example, would apps be expected to work? I see on this forum where several people have been successful in replacing the older NASs with the new OS. I hope to add this NAS to that list of happy people. Thanks for any assistance with this task.Solved60KViews0likes13CommentsHelp needed with Readynas212
Hi! I received an alert my volume was degraded (Disk #2). It then told me: Detected increasing reallocated sector count: [606] on disk 2 (Internal) [WDC WD60EFRX-68L0BN1 WD-WX21D5533R6R] 32 times in the past 30 days. followed by: Disk: Detected increasing ATA error count: [35473] on disk 2 (Internal) [WDC WD60EFRX-68L0BN1, WD-WX21D5533R6R] 12 times in the past 30 days I took that drive out (as I have just ordered another one and was looking to replace). I now only have 1 drive in (in Disk 1), and it's red (even though disk state says online). I now get an error: remove inactive volumes to use the disk (Disk #1). I thought my data would have been synced on there. Any suggestions on how to resolve this? When I goto the performance tab, it is green. I can also see my shares from my PC (i.e the NAS drive, and the associated shared folders), just cannot access, when I click on a directory (like documents), it just fails.Solved27KViews0likes26Commentscodice errore 0x80070035 RNas 104

Hello, I have not logged into my NAS for a while from a computer, just accessed files via SMB or Linux shares. I am now trying to log in, but instead of getting the ReadyNAS admin page, it goes to http://192.168.xx.xx/cgi-bin/luci Here it is asking me for my root password. I can't get past this screen, and none of my passwords are working. I did an OS re-install and that didn't fix the problem. I also can't login in via ssh either. Help! Hi there, I've had a ReadyNAS 314 taking care of my Time Machine backups for around 2 years now with no problems. Currently, the ReadyNAS LED is flashing "data ; Degraded" so I had a look inside the ReadyCloud admin page which confirms the yellow degraded status. However, when I look at the 'Volumes' tab, every volume is green indicating there doesn't seem to be any problem: http://screencast.com/t/KrBKNex3uy5R I'm a bit confused - is there a step I should take now? Or is this just a heads up that I'll most likely soon need to buy new drive/s? Sorry if this is a noob question. I have a corrupted HDD that I have pulled out and I reformatted the remaining good one NTFS on a WIndows 10 machine. Seems fine there. But when I go to load it in my ReadyNAS DUO, I see blinkng green lights. I have performed the factory resets and saw the 2 sequeces of flashing lights. When I load latest RAIDar, I get the ciorrupt root and an IP address I'm pretty sure I didn't set (192.168.168.168). My wifi router uses the 10.x.x.x space.
