10 TopicsOrbi Satellite RBS50 Not Connecting via Ethernet
Hello all! Our home is fairly large and was built by the Moravians (lots of stone), so we needed to connect the satellites via an ethernet cable. So recently I updated the Orbi RBR50, and RBS50's to firmware Version 2.1.2.18, which I was told makes them possible to connect via the ethernet. Now, one satellite is hooked up via the ethernet, but the other changes between the ethernet and 5G connection and gives significantly slower speeds. I've tried resetting it to factory settings and reinstalling the firmware. Is there still something wrong? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks so much ahead of time for all the help!SolvedCannot Access orbilogin.com or net
Hello I just did install an Orbi router and its satellite , all goes fine, there is internet and sofar all is working well. the problem now is to get access to the admin page, i saw that it was changed to 10.0.0.1 to not to have problems with my router, in my configuration there is a router 192.168.21.1 that is attached to the modem 192.168.1.1 in the basement, there is a cable in the first floor where i did install the router Orbi, so when I try to enter I think there is a conflict there. With the app in the iphone it does not recognize the orbi network and the router, when i try to enter using orbilogin.net or 10.0.0.1.I can not ccess neither, I always have the same page of not found with the url and it is thinking all the time with the IP, I did manage to enter only with the cable and disconeting the internet router that gives internet to the Orbi and I did changed the IP of Orbi to 192.168.24.77, but anyway when I out back the cable it is not working. Please help me! thanks in advance.SolvedProblem using Orbi (RBK50) with Xfinity (Comcast) modem/router
Orbi was working fine with my comcast/xfinity service until this weekend. (Comcast modem/router was in bridge mode per instructions.) This weekend my internet service started acting up intermittently and yesterday it wasn't working at all. Tried power recycle several times, confirmed Xfinity modem was in bridge mode, had comcast cust service send modem reset, all to no avail. The Orbi was connecting to satellite and creating local network, but the web control panel (orbilogin.com) said no internet connection. Tried the troubleshooting through the web control panel but never succeeded. Spent over an hour working the issue with Comcast customer service and nothing was working - finally had them reset the cable modem/router to normal mode (not bridge mode) and gave up on the Orbi (powered them down). (In normal mode, the internet service is working and the WiFi coverage works in my house, but it is back to the pre-Orbi coverage and speed, so not as good.) Can anybody help??? Does this sound like a hardware problem with the Orbi? Other ideas/troubleshooting? I've exhausted my ideas as well as anything Comcast could do to help...Orbi or Nighthawk with access points?
Hello, I'm really seeking some good solid advice here folks regarding upgrading my existing Apple AirPorts to a mesh or router with access point system. I'm not a big pro here, I do know some as you'll see below. But, I am definately drawn to the convenience of the mesh system all working together in one app with easy setup etc. After much effort, my Airport setup still dissapoints with frequent slow loading video, poor range overall etc. It's time to upgrade. Here's my situation: Currently: 1. I have 1 Airport Extreme and 2 Airport Expresses. Airport Extreme connects via thernet to both Expresses, cable I've run one way or another when using them as repeaters wirelessly failed miserably. It's a pretty big house I'm covering here. 2. Whats so important is that I have MANY many devices connected well beyond phones and tablets. I need a router system that can handle that. Also, I need a system that can handle playing music via AirPlay through iTunes flawlessly. Currently, my wired speakers handle it great and my 4 wireless speakers work 90% of the time, which is acceptable, barely. I've read that Orbi has had some issues with reliability when it comes to airplay, so that's a concern. Scenario 1: Orbi 1. Replace the 3 Airports with a 2 unit Orbi system. I could still keep my Airport expresses connected in bridge mode and use them for airplay speakers, connected via ethernet branched off the main router. The wifi would need to feed the rest of the wireless speakers in the house however. 2. I currently have 3 WIRED locations, and with Orbi I cannot connect them via ethernet for the backhaul, it MUST be done via wireless tri band. So, this begs the question, is Orbi SOOOO good and reliable that even running wirelessley it's better/as good as a router with wired access points? Will the backhaul required when using airplay suffer since the rest of the system is forced to use the wireless backhaul and not ethernet? Or is it all just so amazingly perfect and range extending that it will all beat the 3 Airports I have spread through my 3,000 sqft home? Scenario 2: Nighthawk plus access points 1. I could easily just swap out my existing 3 units for 1 Nighthawk AC3200 router and 2 AC1900 access points. Is there a system that is already bundled or MADE to work flawlessly together in this configuration? Netgear recommended a powerful Nighthawk but the only "access point" type device I could find was the AC1900, which is dual band while the router I would get would be 3 band. 2. this begs the question, what is the TriBand used for in a wired system? Is it used to manage traffic better or is it relatively pointless as it's there to run the backhaul for wireless devices, and since I'm wiring all 3 of them together, this Tri Band dream I'm holding onto is irrelevant? Should I just get a strong dual band with dual band extenders and call it a day? 3. Again, I'd really like this to be somewhat future proof, I don't want to bother with the wifi again for a long long time. I want it to be able to grow and handle it. I'll throw a decent amount of money at it to get that too. Please, any other model configuration or brand suggestions are VERY welcome. Lastly, I know the Eero system supports the ethernet backhaul (and maybe even the Velop). Is there a benefit to a wired mesh system OVER a wired routher/access point system? Many thanks for any advice, thanks for your time, I know it's not a short post:-) Rob I'Connectivity loss when switching back to the router from satellite
Wonedring if anyone else is seeing an issue similar to the below. At this point I've replaced the Orbi router, had a spare, with no success in correcting the problem. The Orbi is running in AP mode directly connected to a router. This happens in router mode as well. Two satellites on each end of the house. When walking to one side of the house the satellite takes over with limited or no impact as expected. When I walk back to the Orbi base router the same thing happens. Everything is good. When walking towards the other satellite it takes over as expected BUT when walking back to the router the switchover takes place, I can see the WiFi signal integrity change as expected, but I can no longer pass traffic to my LOCAL network. Nothing on my 192.168.1.x network is reachable / pingable except the router plugged directly into the WAN port and the Internet. If I power off the second satellite everything returns to normal about 20 seconds later. I'm running the latest firmware, as mentioned replaced the router (since it is what I had) and have reset everything on multiple occassions. Not sure if this is an issue but since I needed to satellites, and like to have spare equipment, I did purchase two router / satellite combinations. One of the satellites is from the second unit but I'm not sure which is which.SolvedAC3000 Connect to Comcast
Good evening, I'm trying to set up my Orbi RBR50 with my current Comcast ISP. I can set up the Orbi network, but then when I set Orbi to Router mode and enable bridging on Comcast hardware the network drops out. So, ultimately, I'd like to set it up to run as the router and disable the Comcast wifi. What steps am I missing? Thank youHome server on Orbi?
Not sure model is correct. My login says RBR50, but it is both router and satelilte... Anyway, I am trying to create a server for my ALL Mac home so that I can have one location for all my music on laptop/ipad/desktop. Is it possible to connect one to the Orbi router, and if so, does it need to be another Mac or computer or can it just be a harddrive? I have a 10 year old Mac Mini with 10.6 software and all my current ones are 10.13.x TIA, Jeffhow does Orbi AC3000 RBK50 work with Motorola SBG6580 (2 in 1 model/router)?
Hi There, I plan to buy Orbi AC3000 (RBK50). I have Motorola SBG6850 now, which is a modem/router 2 in 1. 1st question. Do I still need the Motorola SBG6850? If so, how should I set up both of them to have the best Wifi speed? Thanks in advance! Best, EddieShould I replace my NetGear router and two extenders with an Orbi RBK50?
I have a Netgear R6250 router along with a WN300 RP extender and an AC 1200 extender. At the router, I get about 25-30 mps., but in the area most used I get about 10 mps. My main concern is throughput over the whole area. Whatever lag there may be between zones is less important. My questions: Will I get consistent performance throughout the Orbi's range? Would that speed be signifcantly greater than what I'm getting now? Does the Orbi replace the router and extenders? Is there any reason to keep or use the router or extenders after getting the Orbi?RBR40 Router and Satellites are no longer working
Lately, we've been experiencing periodic connectivity issues with devices (e.g. - phones, tablets, laptops, et al.) on our home network. Today, I decided to try to tackle it. Waaaay too many hours later, I decided to start from scratch--I disconnected my Orbi router from my modem, unplugged my modem, waited a few minutes, plugged my modem back in, plugged my Orbi back in, connected my modem to my Orbi--and now my desktop pc won't recognize my Orbi network. Currently, my desktop PC is connected directly to my modem, so I know it's not a modem issue. What's going on with my Orbi??? When I ran the diagnostics on my Windows PC desktop, it said the DNS was not responding. I attempted to manually enter a DNS and an alternate DNS according to web guidance, still to no avail. When my Orbi is connected, the white light flashes slowly. When I unplug it from the modem, it lights a steady magenta light. Anybody got any suggestions???
