It would be great if you could see realtime bandwidth per device for the netgear r7000, similar to Google Wifi and Eero. It would be a really useful info and diagnostic tool to see what devices are currently taking up bandwidth. It would be great if this was added to the router web administration page as well theNetgear Genie and/or Netgear Up apps. I've attached a screenshot of how this feature looks on Google Wifi.26KViews93likes15CommentsR8000 Firmware
Per NetGear social media, we are supposed to suggest the below idea here. My idea, as crazy as it sounds, is that Netgear continue to support their R8000 devices. I know, sounds insane but hear me out. People spent hundreds of dollars on a product featuring the "latest tri-band wifi" technology. Now instead of leaving them hanging with a big security exploit for two months, device issues and a feature release stall, Netgear should develop a new robust firmware. Ideally it would be one that wouldn't encourage them to go out and try questionable 3rd party firmwares. That means, it should be competitive (feature wise) with those 3rd parties while fixing ongoing issues highlighted in the forums. Benefits: 1. Happy customers who don't feel like they wasted money and are not stranded with a reletively up to date tech, that lacks manufacture support, features and security. 2. See #1 above. I think it deserves reiteration. Facts 1. product saw less than 18 months of firmware releases and developer support. 2. Nearly 9 months have past since the last firmware update (as of 8/31/2016). 3. June 2016: security notice suggested disabling of features due to security exploit. 4. 2 month later, June 2016 security exploit is still unpatched, leaving customers exposed. 5. There are no Nighthawk products listed on the NetGear EoL page, including the R8000. 6. The product is still available through online and big-box retailers.125KViews7likes14CommentsNighthawk R7000 Traffic Meter Monthly Limit Increase
Please update the Traffic Meter feature for the Nighthawk R7000 to have an increased Monthly Limit that can account into the Tbytes. Comcast as an ISP has began to implement data caps at 1024Mb which equates to 1048576Mbytes but the Monthly Limit field only allows me to enter 104857Mbytes, missing the last digit which is significantly less than the data cap. Given that Comcast is monitoring the traffic it should be available to impose limits and monitor traffic independent of Comcast. It is very important this feature be added. Currently running V1.0.7.10_1.2.3 firmware. This was mentioned in the forums and it was suggested that this be submitted at this location in that post. See below; https://community.netgear.com/t5/VPN-Firewalls/Bugfix-Request-Increase-maximum-monthly-limit-for-Traffic/m-p/1185320#M6496 Original Post "This in regards to the Traffic Meter monitoring function of the SRX5308 VPN Firewall. However this would apply to any device in Netgear's product lineup that monitors the amount of IP traffic per month. Currently the traffic meter can set a monthly traffic limit of up to a maximum of 256000 MB (~250 GB). However, this is insufficient for those who are using Comcast as an ISP where the limit is set to 1 Terabyte (1024 Gb). Request that the montly traffic limit setting be adjustable in the Terabyte range." Reply "I advise you to post your concern as feature request in the Idea Exchange Board for Business here. Be reminded that the community members who will give kudos to your idea will help as the development team will be reviewing the post that has the most kudos and it might be considered to be added on the future functionality of the product."60KViews8likes20CommentsOrbi Satellite RBS50 Not Connecting via Ethernet
Hello all! Our home is fairly large and was built by the Moravians (lots of stone), so we needed to connect the satellites via an ethernet cable. So recently I updated the Orbi RBR50, and RBS50's to firmware Version 2.1.2.18, which I was told makes them possible to connect via the ethernet. Now, one satellite is hooked up via the ethernet, but the other changes between the ethernet and 5G connection and gives significantly slower speeds. I've tried resetting it to factory settings and reinstalling the firmware. Is there still something wrong? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks so much ahead of time for all the help!SolvedHome server on Orbi?
Not sure model is correct. My login says RBR50, but it is both router and satelilte... Anyway, I am trying to create a server for my ALL Mac home so that I can have one location for all my music on laptop/ipad/desktop. Is it possible to connect one to the Orbi router, and if so, does it need to be another Mac or computer or can it just be a harddrive? I have a 10 year old Mac Mini with 10.6 software and all my current ones are 10.13.x TIA, JeffCannot access my router settings (log-in) in any way (factory reset'd several times)
Hey everyone, before I start I want to apologize if this is not the correct section to post this thread. The router I currently own is this one (click here) and I simply cannot access my router settings (routerlogin.com or 192.168.1.1) I do get the text box to input my username : password but all the login infos I've looked up in google won't work. Text Box I get to see. I tried multiple sites to check for login info and none work, one of those being this huge "2018 updated" list: https://www.lifewire.com/netgear-default-password-list-2619154 At the beggining I thought it could be my router messing stuff around because sometimes I got a message saying "Your conenction is not secure" so I tried on MS Edge and then on Firefox, no luck either. I decided to contact ISP, blah, blah, for security reasons they cannot give me admin : password (not sure why?) [My ISP provided me this Netgeat router, I didn't buy it by myself]. Anyhow I did not care about what they said because I used to have TrendNET router and could access to my router settings with no interference from them; the next big step I did was holding the little "factory reset" until the power light started to blink (Not sure if it's held more time it might do something). After factory reset I got the default SSID and PW of the network, I logged in, and had to "log-in" to the network, the only thing it said was the SSID and PW I already knew and 2 buttons, one was to print all the info and the other one to proceed and "activate" the internet. Tried all the possible combinations of admin : password after factory reset and no luck either, no I'm stuck with a SSID called "SureWest-f1" instead of the custom SSID I want. I remember once after a while (because I gave up and submitting a live chat here required a proof of purchase which I don't have because like I mentioned before, my ISP gave this to me) I remember attempting to factory reset it again like 4+ times, and only ONE of them allowed me to access the router info, I had like 3 options to choose, continue with net, configure settings, etc. (instead of the print thing screen I mentioned before) but amazingly unlucky me something happened and after settings everything I wanted, the save button or whatever it was simply didn't work, didn't have connection anymore, had to factory reset again and since then I haven't ever been able to access my router settings apart from that lucky try. (Not exactly sure WHAT I did that one time, maybe I held the factory reset button longer? Who knows..) I'd really like to access my router settings to change SSID how I want, custom password, and doing some port-forwarding. Please any help is appreciated, my ISP just won't help me, they're limiting me what to do with my OWN router.SolvedAC3000 Connect to Comcast
Good evening, I'm trying to set up my Orbi RBR50 with my current Comcast ISP. I can set up the Orbi network, but then when I set Orbi to Router mode and enable bridging on Comcast hardware the network drops out. So, ultimately, I'd like to set it up to run as the router and disable the Comcast wifi. What steps am I missing? Thank youFactory Reset
I was told that I need to perform a factory reset on my Netgear N600, Model C3700 Modem/Router because my business VPN is being blocked. The Netgear support site tells me to find the pinhole on the back of the Modem/Router and press for 7 seconds. There is NO PINHOLE anywhere onthe unit that I can see. I realize that this is an extremely basic question, but I just cannot figure it out. The only button on the back in the On/Off.1.3KViews0likes3CommentsC6300 IP problems
I have had this modem for a few years now and it has always worked flawlessly. Today my internet provider upgaded my service and put me on a faster internet plan. Ever since then I can not access my modem/ router and the wifi does not work. The IP listed on my network connection is different from my router IP. For some reason it seems that I am connecting to the IP from my internet provider rather than my router. I can not even access my router from the routerlogin.net. Does anyone have a fix for this issue? I don't know much about networking so I am sorry for my vague and uneducated details.850Views0likes1Comment
