I’m not too tech savvy but from what I read you set the EX7000 up as an access point and connect it to the router using the Ethernet ports. However that’s not what I want exactly. I was wondering if I can connect the extender to the CAT6/Ethernet port(not sure what the correct name of port on the wall is called) on the wall in my room upstairs instead of hardwiring it to the router. The router is downstairs in my brother’s room. Our routers connect to the internet via CAT6 ports instead of coax since the ONT box in our garage acts as a modem (according to the Best Buy employees I’ve talked to). So instead of having a modem connected via coax and a router connected to the modem, we just plug in the router with out the need of a modem device. So I was hoping I could just do the same with the extender and not it connect to the router wirelessly or have it hardwired to the router itself.990Views0likes1CommentNetwork extender as wireless access point EX7000
Tried to purchase a router but was sold a network extender. I was able to set it up as a wireless access point. It seemed to be okay but now we are having intermittent issues with connectivity on one computer and the name doesn't show up on another computer. Is this because it isn't an actual router. Should I go purchase a router?2.5KViews0likes1CommentMy nether extender can't recognise my new router.
I've upgraded my router and my Netgear extender can't find it / connect to it. I've tried connecting the two with an ethernet cable, manually changing the IP address and downloading a Netgear wizard, but nothing has worked. Any ideas?2.5KViews0likes1CommentMy iPhone connects to my extender but doesn't switch to home wifi when I change rooms!
Hi everyone! Minor problem really but kind of bugging... I have set up my extender in my flat and it works fine - I can now access wifi from the loo ;-) BUT... as I move around my home, I find my phone stays connected to the extender as opposed to automatically connecting to my home router, resulting in a weak-to-non-existant signal. I have to manually switch to my home router in iPhone's settings to access home wifi. As I said, a total first-world problem, but here I am anyway, asking for help! Happy for any tips :-) /Mauricey5.3KViews0likes2CommentsWN3000RP signal ext
I have the WN3000RP signal extender, that is extending my signal from my main router, which is a Cisco Linksys EA3500. However I have a older Netgear router which is a WGR614v10. I cannot seem to get the netgear and the Cisco linksys router to connect as in repeat or bridge, (unless i am doing something wrong). So I thought I would extender the signal with the extender and tehn connect the Netgear router to the extender as a bridge or repeater. Any advice? Thank you in advance.5.5KViews0likes6CommentsWN1000RP won't connect to router at all
Hi everyone, I am having real trouble trying to set up my WN1000RP extender. I have tried everything in the set up guide but I cannot get it to connect to the router. It's not a proximity issue because I have tried it even plugged in right next to the router. The new _EXT network shows up on all devices, but when we go to log in we're told our password is incorrect. But the LED light to indicate the extender is actually connected to the router isn't even on. I managed to set up my iPhone using the wizard and IP address instead, using the same password we tried on other devices, but that drops out after a few minutes. I have also done a factory reset and still no joy when trying again. Can anyone help me here?? Thanks!3.1KViews0likes2CommentsMy password doesn't work now for my WN1000RP and every tip has failed (2nd request)
I tried resetting the modem, I tried the NETGear Genie on my IPAD, I tried turning off the Extender, I tried logging on thru the INternet.....nothing worked. It neither takes my regular password or the admin/password default. All I did was go to a WIFI Hotspot. When I came back, instead of going to the #####_EXT automatically, it now asks me for my password which it now won't take. It never did that before. I use an IPAD 2 with IOS 9. I upgraded to IOS 9 when it first came out, so I don't think that is the problem. Thanks for any and all help. LeeSolved4.6KViews0likes5Comments
