SSID
4 TopicsUnable to change all network names for my tri-band router
It started out with three default network names: NETGEAR95 NETGEAR95-5G-1 NETGEAR95-5G-2 The NETGEAR95 is for the 2.4. No matter what I do, there is no way for me to modify the name of NETGEAR95-5G-1. When I log on to the Netgear Genie via the desktop app or the mobile app when logged on to any one of the three networks, I am only able to modify the names of NETGEAR95 and NETGEAR95-5G-2. It is seriously annoying. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!Solved3.8KViews0likes5CommentsR7000 - SSID not listed on some devices
I've recently bought an R7000 router and with by far the majority of the devices we have it works brillliantly. However, on one device (a Netgear WN1000RP range extender) the network SSID given out by the R7000 isn't (and has never been) listed in the list of available networks. On another (an Acer Aspire One netbook - broadcom BCM4313 802.11bgn network adapter) it has been listed once or twice but generally isn't available. What would be recommended as a remedy to this? Both of the devices do list other networks (and both work fine with other routers), so it doesn't look like the wifi adapters on the devices are the issue. On the other hand, as mentioned above, the R7000 network is visible to every other device in the house (this includes a wide range of manufacturers, OSes and device types) so it doesn't look the router's the problem either. FWIW it's worth neither the 2.4Ghz nor the 5Ghz networks are visible to either of the devices but it's the 2.4GHz network I'm focussing on. In Netgear genie "Enable SSID broadcast" is checked for this network, channel is set to Auto, and mode is "up to 600 Mbps".Solved6.7KViews0likes3CommentsR8000 - Consolidating SSID's
Is there a technical reason having the device configured with 3 seperate SSID's (or 2 is Smart Connect is selected)? I have noticed if I connect to the default NETGEAR20 SSID, the device will end up on another SSID (5G-1 or 5G-2, which is fine, as I assume its intended behaviour), but can I change the SSID to be the same for all WIFI networks? Or alternatively, if the SSID's must be different for whatever technical reason, can the 5G SSID be configured to not advertise? Thanks, AlbertSolved5.3KViews0likes1Comment
