Self-Signed Certificate option for 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ Plus Switch (GS308EP)
Hello, The following product does not have ability to add a self-signed certificate. Therefore, credentials are entered in plain text which is insecure. All switches should have this basic but fundamental feature as a bare minimum for security. I have contacted support already and they said to make a feature request here. 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ Plus Switch(GS308EP) Thank you for considering.Custom Bandwidth Limits for Plus Switches (e.g., MS305E)
Hi NETGEAR team and community, I’d like to request the ability to set custom ingress and egress bandwidth limits on Plus series switches like the MS305E, instead of being limited to the few predefined rate-limit options in the dropdown menu. Right now, the switch only allows selecting fixed presets (64 Kbps, 128 Kbps, 512 Kbps, etc.), but there’s no way to enter a specific value such as 800 Mbps or 1.2 Gbps. This makes it difficult to fine-tune bandwidth and balance traffic between multi-gigabit devices or during QoS testing. It would be great if future firmware allowed users to: Manually type in custom rate values (in Mbps or Kbps) Have more granular preset options (for example, 50 Mbps steps up to 2.5 Gbps) Optionally configure the same settings via SNMP or configuration files Adding this flexibility would make the Plus line much more capable for small business and lab setups without having to move up to a more expensive managed series. Thanks for considering this.
Temperature monitoring and control on Smart/Plus switches
I own an XS724EM 24-port 10G switch. It runs warm to the touch, and the default fan profile seems to err on the side of low noise rather than cooling. Tech support says that the switch is designed to spin down fans entirely unless a certain temperature threshold is reached. Personally, I would prefer to see more aggressive cooling, even if meant slightly more fan noise. So my feature request is twofold: Basic temperature monitoring (ambient, internal) in the admin GUI. All I want is a simple readout of how warm the switch currently thinks it is. Basic manual fan control in the admin GUI. I'm envisioning something like the "Cool/Balanced/Quiet" drop-down menu (see image) found on ReadyNAS units. I know the managed switches have functionality along these lines. To me, this basic temperature monitoring and control seems like it should definitely be included on Smart/Plus switches too.Add option to disable Energy Efficient Ethernet in firmware
The GS105E v2 (5 port) and GS116E v2 (16 port) switches have the ability to disable Energy Efficient Ethernet (IEEE 802.3az) in the web interface via: System > Management > Power Saving Mode, Enable/Disable This option is missing from the GS108E v3 (8 port) switch. Can this be addressed in a future firmware update?300-serie SOHO Plus - SNMP
Hi, we are planning to use the Netgear 300 Series plus switches for camera / alarm systems. The switches are great, with VLAN and a high POE budget but we are missing SNMP functionality. Are there any plans to implement SNMP in further Firmware versions. With kind regards, PieterAuto renable Ports if D-Disabled (Flood Control, MAC Control, etc.)
It is a nice feature, that flooded/storm/looped ports may become disabled. but in all cases they should be reenabled after some time. there should be an option to auto reenable a port with this error after n minutes. say loop 1 minutes disabled, flood 5 minutes disabled. after this time it should have some retries like 3-5 retries. if condition still occurs it should automatically scale the time to 50, 500, 5000 minutes or sth else. so problems could be resolved without admin access. this should be OPTIONAL per feature. Please add the Management VLAN option to GS305E/GS308E switches!
I purchased both a GS305E and two GS308E switches and really like the performance and configuration functionality, but it's missing a key feature -a Configurable Management VLAN. Please add this feature because otherwise I'm likely going to return these switches to get something that supports them from another vendor for the same price point.M4300 8X-8F] stacking firmware compatibility for stacking with S3300 devices
You have 2 device compatibilities so far, please add M4300 8x-8f (XSM4316S) to the S3300/M4300 firmware pair! https://kb.netgear.com/000049533/Smart-M4300-S3300-Stacking-Notes-and-Restrictions?article=000049533 The link above provides context to the question and idea. Thanks!
