Hi All I just purchased a Wifi Extender due to poor signal for my Android Box in another room as well as to help increase the signal strength across the house. I want to use the ethernet plug from the extender directly to the android box as I've heard that's better than the wifi path. The issue I'm having is that I can get my devices to recognize the extender, and connect to it... however they are not able to connect to the internet. I've tried multiple factory resets, both with setup via ethernet cable/WPS and still am not having any luck. I am able to connect to 192.168.1.250 when I have the EXT network selected, however no other pages will load. The Extender I have is N300 / Model EX2700 The router I have is Linksys EA4500 Any help will be appriciated! This is driving me slowly insane :)Solved425KViews0likes17Comments5G Stopped appearing on my devices as an available network. 5g Light on router is lit.
My R7000 has stopped broadcasting the 5g network on all my 5g capable devices. 5g Light on router is lit solidly ( not blinking) but network is no where to be found to connect to. I noticed this within the last few days, but before that everything worked. Any suggestions on how to fix this?Solved346KViews1like6CommentsHow do I reset my R7000 back to the state in which I pulled it out of the box?
How do I reset my R7000 back to the state in which I pulled it out of the box? Why am I asking? The most recent release of firmware has destroyed my router's connectivity and performance. I'm having to deal with devices that can't connect, devices that drop off, extremely poor performance, etc. It's just a disaster. I've been with Netgear 5-6 years and had to do something last night I've never had to do before - I had to revert back to a previous release of the firmware. Honestly, very little was working well. The previous release of software had a few hiccups here and there but the newest release is just a nightmare. Now that I applied a previous release of the firmware though, I still see some of the newer options that weren't there before. I took notice that the firmware was now the prior release but the GUI is still the current release. Just to give some perspective, on my Nexus 5 running 802.11ac, prior to the current release, I could peg 90Mbps+. Since the new release, the best I can do standing right next to the router is 24Mpbs+. Even after rolling back to the previous firmware, the speed is still the same. So, I want to get the router back to the shape as when I pulled it out of the box, apply the previous firmware, and reset up if necessary. I just want my router back prior the most recent release that destroyed it. Again, that release had some hiccups but it was still usable.Solved246KViews0likes11CommentsWindows 10 (A6100 A6200 A6210) Installation Heads Up
As a heads up, DO NOT install Netgear's driver package for your A6xxx device on Windows 10. It permanently removes Windows 10’s ability to access the WiFi Connections list. Instead, use the default driver that comes with Windows 10, of which will freeze when you try to connect to networks until you complete the installation of Intel’s new Chipset Drivers here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/20775/Intel-Chipset-Device-Software-INF-Update-Utility- If that still doesn’t work for you, try the following: Go to Network List, select the network you are trying to connect to, hit “Connect”, you should see “enter password” box and also a message about using WPS to connect, then instead of entering the password go hit the WPS button on your router. Your adapter should connect and function completely now.Solved231KViews3likes277CommentsDownstream light keeps blinking

I just bought a Netgear R7800 and updated to the latest firmware v1.0.2.28. I have optimum cable service and a wifi issue with android devices. I also have a win10 tablet that initially says "connected, no internet" but then it works fine after a few seconds. However, the android tablet and smartphones barely connect no matter what I try. My two PCs that are hardwired work perfectly. It happens on both 2.4 and 5g. I read quite a few forum messages concerning this, but really can't find a definitive answer nor can I find an official response from Netgear. FWIW, the android devices will eventually connect but the data comes through in spurts, then stops. This is very obvious on a twitter feed when clicking a link for example. It can take more than 20 seconds to load a simple page, then the next few pages will load quickly. On my wife's device, it seems her FB page is always days behind based whereas on the home PC that is hardwired everything is up to date. Solutions welcomed.Solved218KViews1like9CommentsScary warning: 40 Mhz and 20 Mhz coexistence?
So I use my Mac's Wireless Diagnostics WiFi scanner tool to find the best 2.4G and 5G wifi channles to use, then enter my two selected channels into the Wireless Settings page of the Netgear Orbi web console. When I apply the changes, I get the following scary message: "Per Wi-Fi Alliance guidelines for 40 Mhz and 20 Mhz coexistence, even if you select 'Up to 400Mbps' mode, your product’s service rate might drop to 20 Mhz. This typically corresponds to 192 Mbps performance." I have no idea what this means or what it is attempting to convey. Does anyone know? Nothing mentioned on the forums and nothing shows up when I google it. It says the same thing no matter what channels I use, as soon as I hit Apply. Does this mean setting specific (least 'chatty') channles may worsen my wifi speed?SolvedTroubleshooting NETGEAR's Powerline Products
Troubleshooting NETGEAR's Powerline Products Powerline products work better when plugged into the wall without power strips, extension cords, surge protectors, or interruptible power supplies. Passwords. Powerline products have both a network password, and a device password. A particular device's password, which is not changeable, is printed on the Powerline product label. Once you have collected all your Powerline device passwords, use the encryption dialog box, as described on pages 9 and 12 of the XE102 User's Guide, to change the network password. (Without password protection, it is possible, although unlikely, for someone very nearby to access your network.) If you changed the default network password, make sure that all the Powerline products use the same network password. If you've moved a Powerline unit, or disconnected the cables, your other network devices may need about 5 minutes to refresh their information about the Powerline's current status. If you have earlier Powerline products, switch to the encryption used by later products. (Early versions of XA601 and XE602 are known to have compatibility problems with newer models.) To test whether a house's electrical wiring is contributing to Powerline problems, plug units in the same room. Examples of potential problems are: Old fuse boxes. Old wiring that does not meet modern wiring building codes. Interference may be caused by a Major draw of Electrical power through the circuit, or the wiring may not be up to code, The following major appliances may cause Interference: Refrigerator Freezer or Microwave Air Conditioning system Power equipment or other house equipment that draws a large amount of power like: Hair Dryer Air Compressor The above devices use a large amount of power, combined with the Television, and other A/V Equipment that may be plugged in will contribute to this interference. An outlet tester will help you identify problems such as bad grounds, reversed wires or bad connections - all of which you should avoid, of course. In fact, if you do encounter any of these problems, you should bring in a certified electrician to make the needed repairs. Swap devices to isolate the problem to a particular Powerline unit. Reset the Powerline adapters to the default settings using the utility. Use all the same Powerline models for best connectivity. Also, software for one model may not work for another model. In particular, remote and advanced features may not work between Powerline manufacturers. Powerline is not directed at businesses, however it may work in a business environment, anyhow. See Assessing Powerline for Business Environments. In some cases noise can be limited by placing line conditioners or surge protectors between the source of the noise, and the Powerline units. (Not between the units.) Consult a professional electrician to evaluate your electricity's noise and to suggest remedies.203KViews0likes53Comments
