Orbi and WEP
I’ve been under the assumption that using WPS encryption is insecure, and the best encryption is to use WPA2 (hopefully with the Krack exploit patched). I noticed that it seems the Orbi system does use WPS through pushing the sync button on the router and/or satellite(s). Previous routers I’ve owned had the ability to completely turn off WEP. With that in mind, could someone comment on how secure using WEP (through the sync button) is when using an Orbi System? Also, does anyone think it may be beneficial if down the road Netgear added the ability for an end user to choose if they want WEP enabled or disabled on each individual device through a future firmware update (of course, after Netgear fixes the bugs that have been causing a lot of people to experience seemingly random wireless internet disconnections)?
COME COLLEGARE DUE EXTENDER
Ciao a tutti, sto cercando di estendere la rete wifi esistente in un alloggio al primo piano di un palazzo in un altro alloggio al terzo piano di un palazzo. Per farlo ho comprato un primo extender EX6150/AC1200 e l'ho collegato via WPS al router wifi; ho lasciato l'extender nell'alloggio dove c'è il router nel punto più vicino e in direzione all'alloggio del terzo piano. Ho quindi comprato un secondo extender EX6150/AC1200 e l'ho collegato sempre via WPS al primo extender; ho posizionato il secondo extender nell'alloggio al terzo piano ma non funziona. Avete suggerimenti? Ho sbagliato qualcosa? Aiuto. Grazie Alessandro
Access Control Issue
We have used an access control list with no issues for about 2 years. This morning we started having connection issues and I had to reset the router. I put all the devices back in the Access Control Allow List but when I try to activate it I get this message, "Turn access control on with empty access list does not work with WPS. WPS will be inaccessible. Do you want to continue?" The list isn't empty. Anyone know wnat this means? Thanks.EX3800 Extender mode (WPS) won't go off
EX3800 won't switch from extender mode to access point mode ONLY. "WPS" light is always on, no matter what I do. "Router" -light also turns on, so access point mode is starting, but same time "WPS"-light is still green. I have tried to push WPS-button for 5 sec so that green light starts to blink. Power-light goes orange, and turns to green after a while. But after blinking, WPS-light is always on, while router-light gets off and on, switching normally as it should. According to manual, WPS-light and router-light shouldn't be green at same time. EX3800 is connected to Netgear WiFi-router with ethernet-cable, from main building to another. I need to expand my Wi-Fi with cable, because with extender mode the EX3800 can't reach the router on air. I made setup first time, by connectin EX3800 to router in same room with short cable. Setup worked out fine. Router light was on, WPS off and everything worked nicely. Then I moved EX3800 to another building and made same cable-connection. Only difference is that cable lenght is longer, as I use ethernet sockets in walls. EX3800 found the router as earlier, but now the WPS light won't go off. I also pushed factory reset and made setup again. Same result, WPS light is green and won't go off. (NGEX3800ACRP, firmware updated)WN2500RP disabled WPS, not able to install anymore
Hi, Few years ago i installed my WN2500RP successfully. Since i didn't want to see the WIFI signal coming from WN2500RP i disabled WSP. Now i would like install WN2500RP somewhere else, however i encounter the problem that i'm not able to install anymore. WSP install doesn't work since WPS disabled. Manual install via www.mywifiext.net does also not work, since i'm not able to connect the wifi 2500rp (doesn't show up since WPS disabled) I already tried fabric reset, however WPS still does not show. Have i destroyed my wn2500RP by diabling WPS (and removing all connected devices), or does anyone know a solution for this problem? Kind regards, RoelCan WPS be disabled on AC790s hotspot?
Hi All I'm a raw newbie, and the odds are this thread is in the wrong place, and apologise if so. I've already posted something similar on Telstra's CrowdSupport forum, but suspect only by casting my net much wider am I going to get a specifically useful answer. We have a BigPond Wi-Fi 4G Advanced II AirCard 790S. I suspect (though I have no proof) that a recent visitor of ours may have added a device to our wifi hotspot via WPS (probably pairing). I may just be being paranoid. But, I have these questions: (1): Is there any way I can discover if a device has been connected to the hotspot by WPS? (2): Can WPS be disabled on the AC790s? I can't see any way to do this, although a respondent on the Telstra CrowdSupport site said it could be done under the AC790s's Settings. (3): Could "returning to factory settings" remove any WPS connection/s? Cheers ausgumbie
