11 TopicsCannot access ReadyNAS 104 shares from PCs
Hello all, I have been trying to solve an issue with access to my ReadyNAS104 shares for quite a long time now with no success so far. It is running firmware 6.9.3. I have two machines, one is a work laptop that normally connects to a domain and one is a personal laptop that has no domain or workgroup. Both Win 10 Pro. The problem is that when I attempt to connect to the NAS in Windows explorer, I see the following prompt. I have tried several different combinations of username / password to no avail. My goal in the short term would be to get back to a situation where I have 'open access' for anyone on the network to access any share. Once that is working, I would like to make it so that one named user can access all shares and one guest named user can access just one folder perhaps. I've presented some screenshots of my NAS config here in case it helps. The articles linked below seem to be similar to my problem but maybe not exactly the same: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS/Cannot-access-readyNAS-shares-on-a-home-workgroup-when/m-p/1018098 https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS/domain-user-access/m-p/846795 https://community.netgear.com/t5/ReadyCLOUD/Cannot-access-ReadyNAS-shares-after-Win10-Fall-Creators-Update/m-p/1404006#M94261.7KViews0likes4CommentsWindows 10 Enterprise: still no longer able to access NAS shares despite firmware v6.9.3 (followup)
Hi, This is a followup to below thread: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS/Windows-10-Install-no-longer-able-to-access-NAS-shares/m-p/1467864 Resume: - Windows 10 Entreprise disabled SMB access to shares requesting/proposing the guest credentials. It won't even prompt for a user/pass account - ReadyNAS change log: OS 6.9.2 will fix this from the developers statements by disabling guest access - Until now, we were obliged to add in windows 10 the NAS credentials under which we need to access the SMB shares Current state using 6.9.3 firmware: - I tried to remove the corresponding windows credentail in the NAS: conenction is broken. I still need to add in windows 10 enterprise the NAS account to access the shares. It is behaving like if the NAS is still proposing guest access to windows 10 Bug report: This issue that was reported is still not fixed under 6.9.3. Any technical explanation and why we still need to manually add a windows account to access a NAS share ?Solved3.5KViews0likes8CommentsWindows 10 Install: no longer able to access NAS shares
Hi, I upgraded 3 days a go to Windows 10 Enterprise build 16299. It was an installation from scratch I sadly have no longer access to any of my SMB shares. Access was working on Windows 7: see image below - I tried dropping to SMB1 in SMB Application + reboot both PC and NAS: no success - I disabled IPV6 under LAN adapter in Windows 10: no success - I enabled every sharing option under Windows 10 for both Private and Public networks: no success Using cmd in admin console to map the network share: net use * /delete net use t: \\nas-ip-address\data /user:admin nas-admin-password Under the shell cmd, I have access to the shares and their listing through drive T: However, it is wired that Explorer GUI cannot access to the T: drive. So I still cannot see my shares in GUI Under Explorer, I can see the NAS: - under "Media Devices", and brows the DLNA folders - under "Storage", double clicking brings the NAS web admin GUI - under "Computer", named correctly "NAS-01": but if I try to access the shares it gives me a "Network access error" I attach above the image with my error Please help me fix this asap, I am lost and really need the SMB access to manage my backupsSolved43KViews0likes5Commentsip address defaults to file
On Windows 10 when I try to access a share on the LAN by entering \\readynas ip address\ the browser defaults to http://ip address and says that it can not find the file. When I try it with the user name at the end of the login \\ip address\john it does the same thing. When I use the name of the share \\ipaddress\accounting I have the same problem. Any ideas? Has anyone, or is anyone, using both Windows Backup and File History Back up simultaneously between same system? My PC is set up with an SSD with Windows 10 and all applications installed. The PC also has a pair of 2 TB drives configured as a RAID1 drive - which is where all the data lives. I want to use Windows Backup to for the SSD drive C:. And have File History configured for the RAID Data drive D: Anything of concern here? Can it be done? Any gotcha's? Thank you in advance. I have a ReadyNAS 314 withthe expansion unit and I would like to either change the existing user or create a new user with admin permissions so that they can remove files from the NAS. As it is now there is a user account with only r/w and an admin account. I would like the user account to be able to use their existing login to have the permission to delete or move files. The unit is a ReadyNAS 314 Firmware: 6.6.1 Desktops: Windows 10 Professional This is used in a non AD windows network with a few users who have access to the NAS. I always use Windows Explorer in Windows 10 to transfer files for my desktop to the NAS. Everything was fine up until two weeks ago. The transfers continue flawlessly. When there is an exact copy of a file transfering from my laptop to the NAS Windows Explorer there are two choices. Keep the file in the NAS or replace it with the file coming in from the computer. Pretty easy stuff. What happens is that after clicking and giving the command to replace the file in the NAS with the file coming in from my laptop the transfer slows down rapidly and stops. I would have to go into the NAS and delete the file and then transfer the duplicate file coming in from the laptop. Can anybody help me with this please? I wold greatly appreciate it! Thank you! Hi Guys, I am new to this forum as a poster, but have been on here before looking for help on issues. I have a RN314 4x4TB thats just over 2 years old. ReadyNAS OS 6.4.2, 4GB RAM (upgraded the ram from 2 - 4GB more than a year ago and absolutely no issues with it) Works perfectly but for SMB/Cifs issues. SMB / Cifs hangs when loading the directory with files in it, and times out, Directory listings of directories where there is no files in seems fine. Sevices activated and running: SMB/Cifs = serious issues = 2 Win 10 Clients, 1 OS X, 2 x "FileBrowser" app on iOS PlexMedia Server = works perfectly, with 1 Roku client, 2 iOS, 1 Mac, 1 PC Win 7, 1 PC Win 10, connected at variable alternate times. Itunes Music Server = Works perfectly with 3 different PC's connected to it at alternate times. AFP = Time Machine Backup Server (Dedicated private) = Works perfectly 3 x OS X clients with seperate usernames and seperate quota's SSH active and also slow (had to activate it and check what is going on after my warranty ran out) To try and see what is wrong here. ReadyCLOUD & ReadyNAS Remote, works = SAME issue, can connect to the NAS from outside, but when doing directory listings times out as well. Https & HTTP access on LAN and WAN Access through ReadyCLOUD, and ADMIN Through the Netgear VPN service WORKS. 4 Users = 1 admin (me), (2 Time machine only), (1 Time machine, and view of 1 share folder only). My HOME LAN Virgin Super Hub Fibre, All CAT 6 Gigabit Ethernet connection, Netgear Gigabit 8 port ehternet switch, except for iOS devices which is wireless. 4 x MAC OS X, (1 Connected to SMB as admin), (3 x Connected to Time machine of which 2 no SMB access, and 1 VIEW ONLY, one folder only) 2 x Win 10, (2 Connected to SMB as admin) 1 x Debian Server connected to (1 SMB share as admin) 2 x iOS devices connected to (SMB with app "filebrowser" as admin) I hope I don't have too much info here, but basically I noticed SMB issues for a very long time with my iMAC, and very occasionally with my windows 10 machine, the filebrowser app on iOS were lightning fast and never had any issues with connecting or file browsing. I believed the issue with my iMAC was OS X related and it annoyed me so much, I could not get any work done ever, which made me make my iMac run Windows 10 in dual boot Bootcamp just because I could not be asked waiting for server to connect and directory listings whirling away even in the same finder window when clicking back or to open a folder, utterly utterly painful. Recently, Windows 10 was doing the exact same thing, windows explorer would time out, and crash explorer, with certain folders taking ages to load and then times out. The filebrowser app on iOS was doing the same thing, Directory listings with folders only would work, but the minute you open a folder with files in it, it whirls for ages and times out as well. All this made me believe its a ReadyNAS issue, as I don't have the same issues with my (Debian server Dell Poweredge) that I have on the network. I enebled SSH access to the NAS, and checked my files and file permissions, I am the owner of all files and group owner is admin, I am in the admin group, all as expected. and all permissions on all files and folders are (rwxrwxr-x) I need help with this, I hope there is someone else that can help out, or that has the same problem, afterall this is what this box is supposed to be, a Network Attached Storage, and at the moment I struggle with accessing files over the LAN. In Windows 7, one could easily get to a ReadyNAS admin page by clicking on the ReadyNAS icon in the Network window. That got broken in Windows 8. Now in Windows 10, it is still broken. Instead of simply sending me to the IP address of the device (like windows 7) I get a Cached bit of HTML from some deep hidden User Dir. Most annoying.
