Hi, I am using 2 access points from NETGEAR into my house. A WAX615 for my cellar and a WAX630E for my house. I also have an access point for my garage which is included into my internet box which is a freebox delta. These 3 access points have different SSIDs. Since the beginning I have problems with my WAX630E because connection are unstable and my cell phone is always loosing the internet connection. I also have some cameras for my home alarm (SOMY indoor and outdoor cameras) which are not working. SOMFY help me with a remote diagnostic and conclude with a very bad internet connection. The camera which was not working is connected onto the WAX630E access pojnt. I have tried many options in the access point without any succes and finally I have changed the canal from auto to manual and everything has worked again into my house. I do not understand why so an expansive access point is not able to select the proper canal for WiFI when the internet box from FREE can do this quite easy as it is the only access point that worked all the time. Can you please check and upgrade the firmware so the access point can select automatically the best canal for the WiFi networks ? I am constantly upgrading the firmware but the probelm has never been solved. Regards.909Views0likes1CommentEnhanced roaming
Hi, I would like to Control the roaming. Like a customer with thin or large walls might need diffrent roaming settings for best customer preformance. Something like a SNR setting or RSSI. Or similar control to make client move earlier or later depending on network and pysical limitations per site. Example, i have a customer where the wall between rooms are 1m thick with Iron rebar and steel sheet reinnforced. This customer needs a SNR of 15 to make sure that the client stays just long enough to have enough signal for the next jump.1.7KViews0likes1CommentORBI (et al) WEB/APP INTERFACE - MORE AGGRESSIVE DEVICE POLLING
Currently (and historically) Netgear does not always show all connected devices. This leads to a loss of user confidence in the web interface and app's ability to reflect the current state. Example- my currently connected NAS is not listed in the Attached Devices even though I previously reserved an IP address for it under Advanced -> LAN Setup. (The NAS indeed is using this reserved address.) The NAS is a wired and active connection but is only visible under Advanced->Access Control-> "View list of allowed devices not currently connected to the network". Notes- 1) other active devices are also listed as inactive. 2) normally Access Control is not implemented - this is the only visibility to devices known to be active. Use case- provide more aggressive active device polling.1KViews1like1CommentORBI GUEST ACCT - OPTION TO NOT BROADCAS SSIDT
Nighthawk R7000 interface provides unencrypted connection with hidden SSID while ORBI does not. Use case- provide similar option to users who want to provide unencrypted guest acct without neighbors having visibility. Rationale- presently there's no point in providing a broadcasted guest SSID requiring login credentials, and certainly having same in the clear opens new vector for nosy neighbors with either malicious or benign intent to use free internet.929Views0likes1CommentAUTOMATE PROCESS TO SWITCH ARMOR ACCT TO NEW ROUTER
Now- in order to transfer a Bitdefender account from one router to another a Netgear team must be engaged. The team member inquires about the new and old devices name and serial numbers. The team member asks for contact information and notifies the user that someone will reach out within 24-48 hours to complete the process. A similar process is required to remove the old router from the user's list on the Armor "My Routers" page: http://armor.netgear.com/myrouters The requested information is available on this same page. Use case- provide users with the ability to self-manage the transfer of the existing Armor account from one router to another. Use case- provide users with ability to remove (old or unused) routers (while providing adequate rules to prevent inadvertent removal of a router with an existing Armor account, etc.) Benefit- by providing this automation Netgear can 1) eliminate the very labor intensive processes involved, and 2) invest human resources in other more deserving areas. Automation challenge- fairly standard integration of Netgear and Bitdefender processes through appropriate APIs, etc.153Views0likes0CommentsNeed a new INsight business router faster than 1GB (min 10) with fiber ports and all the VPN option
