4 TopicsCan the Nighthawk D7000 be put into Bridge Mode
Hi, My wired network is in a new location in my house away from the phone socket but all the wired devices are together in the same location. What I would like to do is position my Nighthawk next to the wired network to act as the router for the wired network devices. I would like to put my ISP router/modem next to the phone socket for the internet connection. My thinking is I could put the Nighthawk D7000 into bridge mode to act as a router only and wirelessly bridge to the ISP modem for the internet connection. There seems to be only an option to make the Nighthawk to act as modem/router or modem only but not as router only. Can some one advise if the D7000 can be used in this way? Thanks in advance. Hi all, I just bought an upgrade r9000 (x10) from my current r8500 (x8) router due to plex and 10gbe lan. The issue I'm having is that my router is at one end of the house, and prior I used eero routers in conjunction to reach all areas of my house, but the biggest problem here is that eero sucks at having simultaneous connections, especially playing video games on 3-4 pcs! So instead of getting rid of my r8500, I was hoping to get rid of my eero. I'm hoping to use my r8500 as a bridge in the middle of the house so it extends the reach to the end of the other side. I tried #1 rated av powerline 2000 and was getting extremely low speeds vs wifi, so that was returned since it didn't work. As a bridge, wouldn't this work since both are supposedly able to transfer fast speeds (especially within lan)? I tried looking at how to bridge these two together but couldn't find anything. Help and insight would be great! Thank you!Solved6.7KViews0likes2CommentsCan R7000 (or 7500, 7800, etc.) do wireless ethernet bridge + AP? (repeater bridge)
I'm trying to find out if the stock Netgear firmware allows you to put, say, an R7000 into wireless repeater bridge mode whereby it connects--preferably with the 5Ghz channel--to my main router, and then also acts as an access point and broadcasts my SSIDs--prefrably on both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz (though I realize this would require a virtual AP that I bet Netgear doesn't support). If not, then I'll just go with Tomato or DD-WRT, as I've used those in the past for such exercises. Thank you!Solved5.6KViews0likes4CommentsBridging vs. access point
Hello all, I have a new Nighthawk ac1750 router (6700 I believe). I would like to add it to my existing wireless network (a tp-link router). I can either connect it to the existing router wirelessly or with cat6 (obviously wirelessly would be easier). I am hoping that the Nighthawk will be able to connect to devices wirelessly and hard wired. Looking through the literatureit looks like bridging is not an option, but I am not sure if using it as an access point will allow me to have both wired and wireless clients working through it. Is there another configuration or trick that will let me do what I want to do? Will either of these options negitively impact the transfer of data between the main router and the Nighthawk? Thanks!
