Hi, I have a Seagate 3TB Personal Cloud that I'm trying to connect (wired, no wifi) to my Orbi router. However, it's not showing up on my network. VLAN/Bridge group is enabled due to my ISP's settings. Any ideas on how I can get the PersonalCloud device to connect? TIA.Netgear Orbi RBK40 bridging in a Macbook
Hi all, I've a new Orbi RBK40 which is 3 months old but somehow not able to get phone support so I'm asking here. I've set up an Ethernet bridge in my Macbook (under settings, network, make a new bridge) and have connected my Internet router by Ethernet cable to the Macbook successfully. I now want to add the Orbi RBK40 to the Macbook via another Ethernet cable and get it connected to the bridge. Unfortunately the light shows purple and not white meaning it's not working as expected. Wifi from the Orbi doesn't work. Can the Orbi join a bridged network? If so how? I don't want to connect the router to the Orbi and Orbi to the Macbook. This was my old setup and setting it this way works fine. I'm trying to force the Orbi and router to be on the same subnet in the bridge I setup in the Macbook. Any suggestions? Thanks Cheers, KinSolvedCan the Nighthawk D7000 be put into Bridge Mode
Hi, My wired network is in a new location in my house away from the phone socket but all the wired devices are together in the same location. What I would like to do is position my Nighthawk next to the wired network to act as the router for the wired network devices. I would like to put my ISP router/modem next to the phone socket for the internet connection. My thinking is I could put the Nighthawk D7000 into bridge mode to act as a router only and wirelessly bridge to the ISP modem for the internet connection. There seems to be only an option to make the Nighthawk to act as modem/router or modem only but not as router only. Can some one advise if the D7000 can be used in this way? Thanks in advance. I am trying to create a wireless bridge to connect ethernet components in one part of my home to the internet. The intenert connection comes through a cable modem connected to my wireless router WNDR4300. I want to re-purpose a WNDR3700v3 to bring the internet access to devices which do not have wireless capability (DVD Player and Roku) but have ethernet ports. I followed the instructions for each of the routers (different), but I must have missed or done something wrong, because it didn't work. Can someone help? Thanks. JuanSolvedBridge Nighthawk routers: x8 r8500 to x10 r9000
Hi all, I just bought an upgrade r9000 (x10) from my current r8500 (x8) router due to plex and 10gbe lan. The issue I'm having is that my router is at one end of the house, and prior I used eero routers in conjunction to reach all areas of my house, but the biggest problem here is that eero sucks at having simultaneous connections, especially playing video games on 3-4 pcs! So instead of getting rid of my r8500, I was hoping to get rid of my eero. I'm hoping to use my r8500 as a bridge in the middle of the house so it extends the reach to the end of the other side. I tried #1 rated av powerline 2000 and was getting extremely low speeds vs wifi, so that was returned since it didn't work. As a bridge, wouldn't this work since both are supposedly able to transfer fast speeds (especially within lan)? I tried looking at how to bridge these two together but couldn't find anything. Help and insight would be great! Thank you!Solved6.7KViews0likes2CommentsAT&T Uverse Pace 5268AC in DMZ+ With Orbi ... help please
So I've been struggling with this for about two weeks now. I want to be able to use Orbi as my router with my ATT suplied Pace box because the Pace doesn't support UPnp or NAT lookup (or so people say) . I run a plex media server out of my house and need to be able to access it which didn't work just trying to use the supplied gateway and putting my orbi in AP mode. Also I like to use Nvidia shield streaming to connect to my gaming PC from outside of my house and I also can't do that with orbi in AP mode and using the supplied Pace gateway in none DMZ+ mode. So here's where I'm at: For the most part serfing the internet seems to work Sometimes it seems like web pages can't resolve connections but If i hit the refresh button a couple of times it will load the web page Plex seems to work outside of my house which is good Nvidia streaming DOESN'T work outside of my house even though I've forwarded the correct ports My roku specifically (I have two of them that have the same issue) seems to have a horrible time connecting to any channel both wired or streaming. I think it's having a hard time connecting to the roku servers in order to load a specific channel. Here's how I have things set up: Turned off the wifi on the Pace gateway Turned on DMZ+ mode for my orbi that's hooked to the first ethernet port on my Pace Gateway Public IP address is being passed to my Orbi router Orbi router is on the same subnet mask but a different IP range (10.0.0.x) and the Pace is on (192.168.1.x) Orbi router is set to DHCP mode updated the orbi firmware to the latest I'm really struggling here. There are a lot of really advanced settings on the Orbi that I think might be causing some issues but I don't know what they do even after googling and I'm not sure where I'm gong wrong. Can someone please save my life here. The thing that's most concering to me is that it seems to have issues making some connections at all (like my roku) this isn't just Orbi btw. I have done this exact same setup with an airport extreme and I had the exact same issue. Can R7000 (or 7500, 7800, etc.) do wireless ethernet bridge + AP? (repeater bridge)
I'm trying to find out if the stock Netgear firmware allows you to put, say, an R7000 into wireless repeater bridge mode whereby it connects--preferably with the 5Ghz channel--to my main router, and then also acts as an access point and broadcasts my SSIDs--prefrably on both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz (though I realize this would require a virtual AP that I bet Netgear doesn't support). If not, then I'll just go with Tomato or DD-WRT, as I've used those in the past for such exercises. Thank you!Solved5.6KViews0likes4CommentsC3000 modem/router --> bridge connecting an AC1750
Will I loose the features of my original AC1750 if I buy my own C3000 modem/router and use that as 1st and bridge the AC1750 behind it? My home isn't tiny so I would like to use both to extend my range across different areas of the house.2.9KViews0likes1CommentWNDR4300V2 slow in bridge mode with VDSL?
I've had a number of WNDR type routers (3400, 3400V4 and now 4300V2) and have worked well with my Cable modem (30M Down/5M Up). Recently I've switched to DSL and have upgrade connectivity to 50M Down/10M Up. When connected with both ISP provided Modem/router or a Smart RG 505 Modem/router I've been easily able to obtain these speeds with both WiFi and wired connections to the router. All works normally as expected. I want to use my Netgear routers as my DHCP/Gateway and have configured the modem in Bridge mode. I let the router handle the PPPoE login and things seem to work fine EXCEPT speed drops to max 27-28M Down/ 10M Up (both wired and wireless). I've been pulling my hair out over this. MTU is set correctly (checked with Ping and verified with ISP). NAT/Firewall turned off on bridge. I've even tried both modems with almost exactly the same results. Thinking it was a problem between the modem and router negotiating bridge setup I've set the modem up as the gateway and setup a DMZ host to point to the Netgear router (and my LAN behind it). Router is still DHCP server for my LAN and the router has a static "WAN" address on the same subnet as the LAN on the modem. Everything works great and I can login and verify both pieces of hardware. No double NAT issues and UPnP works fine. AGAIN the speed drops to 27-29Mbps. Too slow. I have also taken an old TPLink router and replaced my Netgear router as the Gateway/DHCP server/router and speeds are back up to 50M Down/ 10M Up in both bridge mode and as the DMZ target. So this really seems to point to the Netgear modem as the bottle neck. Any advice? I searched a bit and found a few similar posts but no resolution. Most suggestions were wrt MTU (which I've played with and verified with the other modem/router) or using it as a DMZ target which doesn't seem to increase my speed. Am I hitting the limit of the WNDR4300? It is a relatively recent router (only a couple of years old) so I expect it could handle 50Mbps?? Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.Solved6.7KViews0likes6Commentswifi to LAN bridge
I have recently moved from having a separate office to having one in my rented house. The internet is supplied by Sky through one of their modem/routers and it works...ish. My router is downstairs in the lounge and my office is now shoe-horned into a small upstairs bedroom and I have several devices in the office that are connected to each other via an Ethernet switch (which was fine in the old office where I had direct access to the router's LAN port). I now need to get the switch on the LAN reliably connected to the router. So far I have a mains-routed extender and this works okay but there is a fault with them in that they often lose the LAN connection. It is a known fault that I learned of AFTER buying them. I cannot run CAT5 from the office to the router and I cannot reposition the router. Somehow I need to bridge my office LAN, via WIFI to the Sky router. Buying a new router and associated bits is not out of the question but I have yet to ask Sky for the settings (their router came ready configured). Any suggestions? Steve.Solved
