I purchased a c6300 router and registered it with xfinity. The problem is that in the router mode it never gets IP configuration from DHCP. If to switch it to the bridge mode, the connected computer receives configuration properly, so DHCP on the provider side works. I tried to reset it, restore factory settings, release/renew with no result. Using it in bridge mode as a just cable modem does not make sense for me as I am willing to upgrade to the high-speed wifi. Otherwise my previous setup of SB6121 + TP-Link N300 works fine1.5KViews0likes2CommentsReadyShare Vault
Good evening. I am running a C6300 cable modem/router, updated firmware, with 2 Windows 10 computers. I am trying to access a ReadyShare Vault device: a WD 4TB MyBook with USB 3.0. I was able to access the drive after reformatting from exFAT to NTFS, and I can move files from both computers to the drive. But I'm unable to run a backup from either computer using the ReadyShare Vault software. It creates the destination folder on the drive, then gives a "When you connect your drive" error message and goes no further. The same is true for both computers. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software to no avail. Any thoughts are much appreciated! Also, is Genie technically required for ReadyShare vault to work? Or is it just a nice-to-have way of troubeshooting and network mapping? Scott749Views0likes1CommentNot getting 100Mbps WIRED but I am wirelessly Netgear Model C6300
Hello. My Netgear C6300 shows output of 100Mbps but when WIRED to my desktop or laptop, I'm only getting around 50-60Mbps using speedtest.net. When I check the speed on my phone using the 2.4 Ghz channel, I get the same, around 50-60Mbps but when I change it to 5g I get well over 110Mbps. Why isn't my wired connection getting the 100Mbps which the wireless modem router is outputing? Thanks for your help!673Views0likes1CommentC6300 Assigning an IP that is not in range?
Why is the guest network dhcp assigning devices to a subnet I can't control? When devices connect to my network, even my guest network, I want to define an IP range and other paramenters. My 2.4/5Ghz networks both share 192.168.0.x network but my guest network runs at 192.168.251.x. Where is the C6300 assigning this address range from?1.1KViews0likes3CommentsRCN C6300 Not Pairing
I just moved from Xfinity to RCN in Chicago and am using the same Modem/Router. I reset factory settings, gave RCN my MAC Address, and after a few hours I am still not getting it to lock in on the internet light. Looking at the diagnostics, it says it has only locked 1 US channel and 1 DS channel. What am I doing wrong? Is it the modem/router? Is it RCN?1.5KViews0likes5Commentsc6300 Wifi Not Working
Just had two power outages back to back. Upon 2nd recovery, the internet had stopped working. A quick plug pull and the modem came back up just fine, but now I have intermittent connectivity. Speedtests show DL speeds up to 75 Mbps and UL speeds towards 7 Mbps but the internet kicks out every minute or so. More importantly though, the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless are no longer working. Both lights are unlit and hitting the WiFi and WPS buttons do absolutely nothing. So far I've tried resetting with the actual reset button on the back, holding it for 60 seconds as recommended by chat support, unplugging everything for awhile then reinstalling, disabling the network adapter (PC ethernet) and re-enabling it and then also tried updates to the network adapter itself but there are none. Everything was working fine just up until the two power outages so now I'm wondering if this one is just completely shot. If so, I'd rather go back to Linksys/Cisco for an all in one cable modem/router option as this NetGear was the only one that was available at the time when I went to upgrade from an Arris Surfboard 6141.5.9KViews0likes3CommentsC6300 Cannot resolve host - Cannot access internet outside of bridge mode
My C6300 is just 4-5 months old and had been working great so far. I was on vacation over the long weekend and had the power to it turned off. I come back home and turn it on to no internet. Spectrum says it is my equipment. I verify that by turning it into bridge mode and connect my laptop via ethernet cable and can access the internet with no issues. I am now perplexed on next steps. It works fine in bridge mode. But cannot access anything with it off. I have reboot and reset the router multiple times. I have verified with Spectrum that I have the most recent firmware version. I can ping the DNS host that it automatically gets from the ISP just fine. Any thoughts or suggestions to help me on this?6.1KViews0likes13CommentsNighthawk C6300 and FiOS Quantum Gateway AC1750 and Chromecast and other problems
Hi, ultimately i just want wifi to work in my house the easiest way possible that does not continuious die on me.. I've spent this month another 20-40 hrs trying to resolve the above three items (C6300, Fios Quantom Gateway, and Chromecast).. to various degrees of 'sorta-kinda-working-but not-really' even searching the netgear forums for help only partially gets me there.. In that often times the advice says.. oh yea this does not work for the C6300, you need to do XYorZ but then the advice does not work (like to set up it as a AP mode. there is no AP mode on the advance tab, nor a "use other operating mode first".. anyway.. what id like to know.. whats best way to set these things up together.. note ive gone this route b/c after years of trying to get wifi in house (powerline adapters, extenders, etc, the netgear seem to be best option, this of course was before the orbi option).. but i still have to turn off the c6300 so that my sony bravo tv does not loose connection 100+ times on a 30 min netflix show.. im assuming its b/c both routers are still on .. but i could be wrong. .and chromecast keeps dropping signal 1) is there a way to have the Wireless of the Fios Gateway and C6300 play nicely together.. if so.. how (screen shots would be great) so, can someone walk me through how to get this up an running (possibly seting FIOS in brige, or C6300 in bridge, or C6300 in AP mode, or something else, and how to keep the Chrome cast from dropping the connection) thanks steve1.4KViews0likes3CommentsPorts closed after firmware update
Hi all, I think my Modem was updated by Spectrum (V2.01.18) recently and now a lot of my devices that I remote into are not available. I called Spectrum support and they said that they don't block ports and I should contact the manufacturer and they should be able to open the ports back up. Seems like all my ports except for 8000, 8080, and a couple others are open. The rest are closed. I couldn't find any posts here. Has anyone gotten this problem? Any fixes? Hello, I got a Netgear AC1750 WiFi Cable Modem Router, "Built-in DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem", Model C6300 about 2-3 years ago. I was using Comcast in my old apartment, but moved to a place with FIOS (internet only). I am on that network as we speak, and my speed test results (from both speedtest.net and Measurement-Lab from Google) show me at 50+ mbps upload and download. However, the network has gone in and out, and it takes a WHILE to show back up. Also, I wanted to change my network name from "NETGEAR75" but I'm unable to log in to my router via 192.168.0.1 or routerlogin.net, the second of which tells me "You are not connected to your Router’s WiFi network." which is clearly false. The network also crashes when I try to connect our new Roku Premiere to the network--it doesn't just not work for the Roku, it knocks out the wifi for the whole apartment, and I need to restart the router! If anyone has any advice here, I would really appreciate it. Clearly the router works on some level with Fios. I'm hoping there's some setting that can be changed to get over these hurdles, and I don't need to get a whole new router or start renting from Verizon again!3.7KViews0likes2Comments
