4 TopicsFirmware Frustration on CM400
About a month ago, the Netgear modem I have been using with my ISP for 2 years abruptly stopped working. After multiple tech visits out to my place, and replacing the modem with the same model to no avail, my ISP finally determined the problem to come from a recent series of upgrades to their network they did recently. They told me the firmware might be out of date on my modem--they said it should be 1.01.17 and because I did a few factory resets to make sure the modem was running properly, my firmware was downgraded to 1.01.10. If this is correct, I cannot connect to my ISP to update the firmware. Is there any possible way to update my modem? Also, if this helps, the issue with my modem has been that downstream will bond OK, but upstream will not.2.3KViews0likes1CommentFirmware Update on CM400 Docsis 3.0 cable modem
According to the website, I have to contact my ISP to upgrade my firmware on my modem, but my ISP says that the manufacture sends out updates to them and it will eventually be updated. My only issue is that Netgear's website shows that I should be on firmware 01.01.13 and I am currently on 01.01.08. Is there a way to get my firmware updated? I am having random connectivity issues and I am trying to troubleshoot both my cable modem and wireless router. Two separate issues seem to happening. I have wireless access but no internet, and after a reboot of the cable modem everything is fine. Other issue is wireless drops and reconnects. Everytime I have to reboot the cable modem. I recently joined Comcact after moving and purchased the Netgear CM400 modem. For the most part, it works fine with no issues. The speed is constant and Youtube, downloading, surfing, etc work great. However, when I watch Netflix it does fine for usually about 40 mins, then starts burffering and eventually just drops out and makes it not even worth continuing to finish the movie becuase it just keeps stopping and buffering. Now, if I just watch a TV series like maybe 25 mins, its fine. Full HD, no problem. But anything more than 40 mins or so it just doesn't work. Every time this has happened, I immediately check my speed, and it is full speed. So I know my internet speed is not the issue. My speed is consistantly around 15mpbs. Any suggestions?4.8KViews0likes7CommentsCM400 Modem not working
I purchased the CM400 modem and a Netgear router last week for my new apartment. I set everything up as instructed, and called Comcast to activate my service and add the modem to my account. They said everything went fine, but it wouldn't connect to the internet. The power and internet lights are lit up green, and the down stream, up stream, and ethernet lights are all amber. No matter what I do, powering it off, switching outlets, anything, the lights never change. They all come on instantly once the modem is plugged in. Comcast thinks it might be the coax wall hook up, but I don't think they are correct, since as I said, whenever I unplug things from the ports, nothing changes. Whether the ethernet cord is plugged in or not, it's always amber. Please help me solve this issue. I have a chromebook, which has no ethernet port, so I have no way to directly connect to the modem. Thank you.3.5KViews1like1Comment
