11 TopicsMajor Failures After Firmware 2.0.0.74 Upgrade!
ORBI firmware version 2.0.0.74 is failing! I have used the ORBI RBK50 system since Apr 2017. While running the 1.xx.xx firmware, the conection was incredibly reliable & fast. I had max speeds from all my devices: several PCs running Windows 10, & an iMac running Sierra (10.12)[High Sierra (10.13) since Sep 25th]. I had reliably uploaded/downloaded hundreds of GB of data each month. This included successful backups to Crashplan & later IDrive. I was very happy with my ORBI. On Oct 1st, I updated my firmware to version 2.0.0.74. By Oct 2nd, I began having significant connectivity problems. Since then, I have tried several suggestions from another thread but the failures continued. Today, I performed the following steps: Factory reset all devices (router & 2 satellites) Performed initial installation Changed satellite names to Satellite-1 & Satellite-2 Rebooted xfinity router Rebooted ORBI router Restarted IDrive backup The connection is still failing! I am lucky to backup a handful of files before IDrive reports a dropped connection! I am not happy. I feel NETGEAR caused this problem with the 2.0.0.74 update. I will be very pissed if I have to pay for premium support to solve this problem!SolvedOrbi drops signal several times an hour
Had the system for about 2 months, worked fine. IPad, iPhone, Android system drops internet connection about 3 times an hour for around 10 min in duration. Replaced modem thinking it was the issue. I sit here tonight and am having same issues. The devices show full bars, but no connectivity. As I read this thread, I am now confident that this Orbi system is the problem. It's exactly as everyone describes. I've paid over $400 for the system, and now $80 for a new modem that I didn't need. I need some answers from netgear please.Orbi dropping connection using external VPN connections
I have had my RBK50 system since July of this year and the Router and Satellite both have firmware (2.0.0.72) and overall the system and performance have been great. When myself or my wife are using any device that is not going through a VPN there do not seem to be any connection issues. My RBK50 is in router mode and basically an out of the box configuration other than the firmware update. But when either my wife or myself use Cisco Anyconnect to VPN into our respective work networks, the wifi drops it connection frequently and/or the speed slows way down. I have gone through the process of shutting everything done, unplugging the modem, router, satelittle and laptops. We then both restart everything and we still experience frequent network disconnects using the external VPN connections. The only thing that seems to work is when we plug an ethernet cord directly into the router and/or satellite to create a LAN. Any help would be great!ORBI Satellites to directv recorders not staying connected 2.1.1.16
Connection between two Directv recorders for shared play lists between the two ORBI sattilite units in my system keeps loosing connection and I have to reset both ORBI sattilites to re-establish the connection between the Directv recorders. NOTE: Both recorders are connected to the ORBI sattilites via hardwire. NOTE: A third Directv recorder is hardwire connected to the ORBI base router and never looses connection with either Directv recorder that are connected to the two seperate ORBI sattilites. I tried to disable the "daisy chain" feature but then I could not estabilsh a connection between the two recorders connected to two individual ORBI sattilites.Accessing old static IP after switch to Orbi
Hello- Quick question. I just upgraded to AT&T Fiber and the Orbi RBK50. I have the AT&T in pass-through mode and use the Orbi as my primary router. Unfortunately, I forgot before the switch over that there were some static IP addresses assigned with my old router on a totally different subnet. They are devices that are difficult to hardwire (ip camera, whole home system component), and I would like to be able to ping them. What would be the least obtrusive method to do this? Orbi is on 10.0.0.x and the old system used 192.168.1.x. I know I could change the gateway on the orbi temporarily to access the old devices. But finally having everything working well, I'm worried it will cause issues when I switch back. Maybe I am just being hyper-nervous? Any help would be much appreciated.Devices on Satellite appear to loose connection to router for a few seconds at a time
Hello all, I currently have a HTPC that utilizes a HDHomeRun Prime for cable TV and several xboxes for media extenders. Ever since I've installed the Orbi system, I've noticed I've been getting a lot of "weak signal" messages on my HTPC and extenders. From what I can tell its dropping frames from the HDHomeRun to the HTPC. The HDHomeRun is wired to the main router and the HTPC is wired to the satellite. From reading many of the issues people are having, am I safe to say that the Netgear Orbi system isn't refined enough at this point to support sustained data transfer from the router to satellites? I never had any issues whatsoever until I switched to this setup. I'm currently running 2.0.0.74 firmware and my signal on the satellite shows blue to the router (see attached picture) I'd like to know if there is anything I can do to fix this issue before it's too late to return the Orbi. Thanks in advance!!RBS50 weak signal
I was using Netgear's handy little WiFi Analytics Android tool to map out the signal strength in various parts of my house, and I found that the signal strength in my bedroom is only 86%. What makes that odd is that I was sitting next to the satellite. The satellite was connected to the mesh, so the signal strength should have been 100%. Does this mean that my phone was stuck to a connection to one of the other satellites (or the router)? Is there some threshold that triggers the device to be handed off to another unit?AT&T Uverse Pace 5268AC in DMZ+ With Orbi ... help please
So I've been struggling with this for about two weeks now. I want to be able to use Orbi as my router with my ATT suplied Pace box because the Pace doesn't support UPnp or NAT lookup (or so people say) . I run a plex media server out of my house and need to be able to access it which didn't work just trying to use the supplied gateway and putting my orbi in AP mode. Also I like to use Nvidia shield streaming to connect to my gaming PC from outside of my house and I also can't do that with orbi in AP mode and using the supplied Pace gateway in none DMZ+ mode. So here's where I'm at: For the most part serfing the internet seems to work Sometimes it seems like web pages can't resolve connections but If i hit the refresh button a couple of times it will load the web page Plex seems to work outside of my house which is good Nvidia streaming DOESN'T work outside of my house even though I've forwarded the correct ports My roku specifically (I have two of them that have the same issue) seems to have a horrible time connecting to any channel both wired or streaming. I think it's having a hard time connecting to the roku servers in order to load a specific channel. Here's how I have things set up: Turned off the wifi on the Pace gateway Turned on DMZ+ mode for my orbi that's hooked to the first ethernet port on my Pace Gateway Public IP address is being passed to my Orbi router Orbi router is on the same subnet mask but a different IP range (10.0.0.x) and the Pace is on (192.168.1.x) Orbi router is set to DHCP mode updated the orbi firmware to the latest I'm really struggling here. There are a lot of really advanced settings on the Orbi that I think might be causing some issues but I don't know what they do even after googling and I'm not sure where I'm gong wrong. Can someone please save my life here. The thing that's most concering to me is that it seems to have issues making some connections at all (like my roku) this isn't just Orbi btw. I have done this exact same setup with an airport extreme and I had the exact same issue.Losing Wireless Connectivity
Hello guys, So basically the first few days the Orbi system worked just fine. But now I'm losing the connection every 1/2 hrs. I'm connected via Lan-Cable to my PS4. I don't know if it has something to do with my issue but when I was only using the laptop and my iPhone everything worked fine. I did not change any settings etc. Once I lose connection the router is pulsing white and sometimes it's just solid white. Then it turns blue and everything works again. Any ideas how I could solve this? I don't want my router to lose connection. Especially when I'm playing online games.
