Hi, I'm on a ReadyNAS NV+ v2, with RAIDiator 5.3.11. I had it configured for X-RAID2 with 3x 2GB drives and one older 512GB drive. A few days ago the 512GB drive failed, leaving the array unprotected. No big deal - I stuck a 2GB drive in instead of the failed drive, and left it to sync up. It did leave me with the ominous message: RAID sync finished on volume C. The array is still in degraded mode, however. This can be caused by a disk sync failure or failed disks in a multi-parity disk array. But I figured that wasn't too big of a deal - all the hard disks were still lit up green in raidiator and everything else seemed ok. However this morning when I looked half my files were gone! No warning emails or anything. Before the sync, all my files were there, as I checked and managed to back a few of them up. Looking at the logs I now see pages of: Apr 23 04:22:13 nv kernel: EXT4-fs error (device dm-0): ext4_find_entry: reading directory #3969027 offset 0 Apr 23 04:22:13 nv kernel: EXT4-fs error (device dm-0): __ext4_get_inode_loc: unable to read inode block - inode=3048192, block=48758863 Apr 23 04:22:13 nv kernel: EXT4-fs error (device dm-0): __ext4_get_inode_loc: unable to read inode block - inode=1051475, block=16777429 Apr 23 04:22:13 nv kernel: EXT4-fs error (device dm-0): __ext4_get_inode_loc: unable to read inode block - inode=1057490, block=16777805 Apr 23 04:22:13 nv kernel: EXT4-fs error (device dm-0): __ext4_get_inode_loc: unable to read inode block - inode=1057491, block=16777805 in system.log. What can I do? Is there a way to recover these files? I thought this was the whole point of having a NAS.Solved3.6KViews0likes17CommentsReadynas ultra 2 (RNDU 2000) can't connect to admin nor re-install OS
Hi I have a RNDU2000 Readynas ultra 2. Two disks, no backup :( It won't start, with radar it says sometimes disk ok and next boot "corrupt root". When disks is ok I can install it as a new but I don't want to. I still think i'm able to retreive the files from the disks.I have tried OS re-install but nothing happens, it reboots but nothing installs. Took out the disks and connect it to a PC. Windows didn't recognize any disk. Downloaded ufsexplorer, it also didn't find any disks. Tried several tools from Diskinternals.com, those tools found my disks, even found almost 5000 files but could not preview any of them, also almost every file had same size. I read somwhere in this forum that the OS could be corrupt or the partition where OS is. Anyone who can explain to me how to "reset" the boot partition via SSH? Or install OS another way? USB? SSH?Ready NAS 102 in accessible (corrupt root)
Netgear Community: I have been using a ReadyNAS DUO V2 device with a single WDC WD20EFRX 2TB HDD without issue. At this time, the device is not accessible, does not register as being on my home network. As of November 24, I found the device inaccessible, and have been looking for answers. With the help of RAIDar 6.2 (for Windows), I see I have a "Status: corrupt root", the "Firmware" is *blank*, the IP address is shown, and the single drive installed in the device shows with a green check mark, and a capacity of about 1863GB. I attempted an "OS reinstall" prior to finding RAIDar and the fact that the LEDs were controlled by the "Backup" button suggest the enclosure itself is operable. I have seen the reference for a "USB recovery" along with the cautions that this ONLY be initiated through Netgear support. My questions are: 1. Is the content of the HDD presumed to be intact (based on the green check mark of RAIDar)? 2. Can >this< HDD be loaded into another, newer (current) Netgear product, and have its content intact and accessible? 3. Can the HDD be accessed *outside* of the ReadyNAS enclosure? 4. If I purchase and install a NEW, unitialized HDD, would that achieve a recovery, such that I could return the current disk to Bay 1, then initiate a RAID operation to the *new* disk in Bay 2? 5. Can the USB recovery process be executed WITHOUT having a HDD installed in the ReadyNAS device? Thanks in advance for your helpful replies.3.9KViews0likes6CommentsCorrupt boot - Factory Reset not working
Hi! I have a the RND2000v2 and it will not load. Using the most up to date version of RAIDar it tells me I have a Corrupt Boot. Following the manual I attempt to do do either a Factory Reset or an OS Reinstall, However when I perform the following to access the boot menu we get an issue. Unplug the ReadyNAS as it will not turn off on its own. (or the power button) Insert paperclip and press the "Reset" button on the back Plug the ReadyNAS back in Hit the power button Wait for everything to illuminate (as per Step 4 of the Manual) ...Except it never does, no matter how long I hold just the rest button. It does not seem to go into the Boot menu What happens iwhile holding the reset; The power button constantly flashes, and every 10 seconds or so the other (act, Disk1 and Disk 2) lights illuminate momentarily. I have tired to relase the reset button at this point in hopes it would stay in the boot menu, but they all turn off when I remove the paperclip from the reset button. If I try to use the "Backup" button to navigate the menu of the Boot Option nothing happens. No configuration of HDD seem to matter. I have tried, only 1 HDD in a bay at at time, both bays filled. and both bays empty. Thanks in advance.SolvedReadyNAS Ultra 2 Plus will not boot, corrupt firmware suspected but need help...
Hi, I read another posting "ReadyNAS Ultra 2 Plus can't find on Raidar/network" and I understand mdgm can help if you have corrupted boot wich I suspect. I have tried all OS reinstall, fatory reset and also USB restore with several USB-keys. Nothing works....need help. Thanks Daniel RNDU2000 FW: 4.2.283.8KViews0likes9CommentsiSCSI corruption. Bitlocker locked? Not looking good, ALL my data!
So my LUN Volume has been working great with iSCSI initiators on windows 8.1 and now 10. No problem. Today, after upgrading my Surface Pro 3 to win 10,. I create a new initiator on the admin page for ReadyNAS, connect with the iSCSI initiator. and it connected, but right away had a exclamation mark thing over the drive letter in explorer for each drive. It was lagging bad and would keep giving (not responding) message in explorer. After a few mins I disconnected the initiator from the target and moved back to my main desktop PC. I reconnected on that PC like I normally have been, and now all of the drives are showing that exclamation point icon, and the drive that I was actually trying to access from the surface P3 is showing as bitlocker locked. If I try to open any of the drives in explorer, it says disk corruption or damaged. This is really freaaking me out being that this is literally all of my data and I am new to NAS so I was thinking that being that I had RAID 5 I was safe. It never occuired to me that I would lose 4 HDDs at once. Is there anything I can do or am I totally boned here? Please help and thank you in advance for ANY help.5.5KViews0likes9Comments
