I have an XR500 that has been working fine for the last month and a half, no settings have been changed and all of a sudden the last 2 days the router has been dropping internet (Ethernet and WiFi) and will reconnect then almost a minute or 2 later disconnect again making my home internet useless. Any thoughts or suggestions to remedy this issue?2.9KViews0likes1CommentOrbi dropping internet connection
So my Orbi keeps dropping internet connection with my Amazon TV via Ethernet but WiFi remains working. I have to reboot Amazon TV to have it reconnect to the Orbi. Both Orbi and Amazon TV have most recent firmware update. My internet is fiber and up to 1gbps speed. So I have the Ethernet cable directly from wall into Orbi and another cable from Orbi into Amazon TV. Any ideas why it keeps dropping internet to my Amazon TV?Android/2.4-5 GHz switching potential fix
Good afternoon! For those having problems with Android/5 GHz devices dropping the wifi and picking it back up immediately, I have found a temporary solution. The problem with the LG G5 and Pixel was that it was switching between 2.4 and 5 GHz connections regularly. On the Orbi, you cannot separate the SSID's for each frequency so I just disabled the SSID on the 2.4 GHz network. I then chose "forget network" and reconnect my 5 GHz capable devices to the only SSID showing which was 5 GHz. All devices connected to 2.4 GHz stayed connected and the loss of signal quit happening. I suspect that the 2.4 seemed to be slightly stronger between walls so the strongest signal would vary between 2.4 and 5 GHz. Here is my configuration below. So far it has been up and running with no dropping or Orbi restarts for 18 hours. Firmware: 2.1.2 10 BetaWifi regularly disconnecting all devices Nighthawk AC1900 (R6900) - dropping both bands every day
I've had the Nighthawk AC1900 (R6900) for about 6 months and after a few months it started disconnecting then reconnecting all devices on both bands. At first it was just occassionally, now it is at least once daily. Thermostat, wireless security cameras, printers, tablets, phones (both iPhone and Android), PCs - everything gets disconnected. However, all lights are green on the router, and the status is fine on the Netgear genie online. I recently updated the firmware to V1.0.1.34_1.0.24, it still does it. For each network, I changed the channel settings from Auto to specific channel numbers. Worked for a day, then back to it. I reset the router to factory defaults, then manually reconfigured it all over again yesterday. Today everything got disconnected again. Such an unreliable piece of equipment. Of course tech support expired after 90 days, and I don't want to shell out another $50 minimum for tech support now. I am not using the parental controls, QoS, or Readyshare. Just the basic 2.4 and 5 Ghz networks. Works great for a while then everything is disconnected at once. Now it will not automatically reconnect anything. I have to reboot the router at least once a day to keep things working. So frustrating. About to get a Linksys or DLink router instead. I have searched and searched through this community and watched the videos trying to get ideas, but none of them work for more than a day. Does anybody have any more ideas before I donate this router to charity or the trash can? Is there any way to decipher the log to figure out what in the world is going on with this thing? This page is insisting on a Model number, but this model is not even included in the drop down list! I was forced to pick something to even be able to submit this plea for help, so I chose the R7000. But it is REALLY the R6900/AC1200. Thanks, GEinCOSolvedDevices on Satellite appear to loose connection to router for a few seconds at a time
Hello all, I currently have a HTPC that utilizes a HDHomeRun Prime for cable TV and several xboxes for media extenders. Ever since I've installed the Orbi system, I've noticed I've been getting a lot of "weak signal" messages on my HTPC and extenders. From what I can tell its dropping frames from the HDHomeRun to the HTPC. The HDHomeRun is wired to the main router and the HTPC is wired to the satellite. From reading many of the issues people are having, am I safe to say that the Netgear Orbi system isn't refined enough at this point to support sustained data transfer from the router to satellites? I never had any issues whatsoever until I switched to this setup. I'm currently running 2.0.0.74 firmware and my signal on the satellite shows blue to the router (see attached picture) I'd like to know if there is anything I can do to fix this issue before it's too late to return the Orbi. Thanks in advance!!
