Today I started working with my brand new GS105Ev2 switch (I already have a GS108Tv2). Out of the box I discovered there was a firmware update available for the unit; version 1.4.0.9. (The stock unit was firmware 1.4.0.6). At this point I only changed the default IP. Apparently this unit has to be updated through TFTP.. annoying, but ok. I fired up the TFTP server, let the switch acquire the correct firmware file. The switch reboots.. and... it came back at the default IP (192.168.0.239). The webserver presents a simple page with a menu "Firmware Upgrade" and "Reboot". Under "Firmware Upgrade" it shows two boxes "TFTP Server IP address" and "Image File Name". So it seems this is a boatloader management page to recover a failed firmware. So I fire up the TFTP server again; result: "Firmware is upgraded successfully. Please wait for the switch to finish rebooting with new firmware." The switch reboots... and again; the bootlader page on the default IP. What the heck is going on? I've tried the older firmware version (1.4.0.6), I've tried different TFTP servers. Nothing seems to work.SolvedUpgrading firmware on GS105Ev2 -- fails using TFTP
Greetings, I have two GS105Ev2 switches that need a firmware upgrade. The current firmware on the switches is 1.3.0.3 and I'm trying to upgrade to 1.6.0.11 downloaded from the Netgear site. The only option available on the switches is a firmware upgrade via TFTP. To that end, I installed a SolarWinds TFTP server on my troubleshooting laptop (Windows 10). I've also checked the following: 1. The switch management webpage is reachable from the laptop. 2. Both the laptop and the switch are on the same network segment. 3. The TFTP server service is running on the laptop. 4. The laptop Windows Firewall has been configured to allow TFTP traffic (i.e., I've configured the firewall to "allow the TFTP server to communicate"). 5. The .bin file is located in the TFTP server root folder. Even with these checks, when I initiate the firmware upgrade process I receive the error message "Could not locate TFTP server". Does anyone have any ideas on what else I should check? Is there any other firmware upgrade method for these switches? Hi, On Jan 6, 2026, 10:02 PM PT, I received alert from Netgear Insight Alert (via e-mail) that new firmware is available: WAX625/WAX628 Firmware Version 12.5.0.12 I am interested in installing this firmware as it supposedly fixes issues with random reboots and I was experiencing something similar where device just locks itself and all SSIDs become unavailable and the only remedy was power restart. Those power restarts are not trivial for me because WAP is PoE powered and high up on the wall. I was forced to buy a timer which cuts out power to the whole network rack including main router (fw) and WAX625. I went into the Netgear Insight > Firmware > Set Target Firmware (upper right corner) to find this firmware 12.5.0.12 and it is not on the list. The latest I see is 11.8.0.9 which appears to be also the one I have installed and the latest one listed on the product page: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/wax625 So, I am wondering what is going on here? Why did I get this e-mail when the firmware is not generally available for install? Thank you!188Views3likes3CommentsFW page shows 'Updates Available'
Experiencing the same thing with WBE750 APs. Notification that FW updates are available went out and the FW page shows 'Updates Available' in some icons, but when you attempt to 'update' it just says you are on the latest version already (it's not). The manual files are not available on the downloads page either, so it's not possible to do it through the local interface. Forcing a factory reset and starting the device up from new also does not appear to make a difference (ask me how I know). Hoping this gets sorted out within a couple of days73Views0likes4CommentsNetgear WiFi 7 WBE710 802.11k/v Disabled After FW upgrade.
I upgraded to V11.8.0.14 and I'm not seeing on my devices that 802.11k/v are now disabled. I know 802.11r is only supported with InSights but now they are disabling features? I rolled back to V11.5.1.5 and then they show enabled. Why is Netgear disabling features for APs? Is anyone else seeing the same? You can't even open a support case with Netgear without paying nowadays. This are extremely useful protocols for device roaming and now they are disabled in the backend? I would like an explanation. Factory reset performed made no difference. Quick Configuration Settings - Everything else is default. Static LAN IP Configured 192.168.x.x SystemName Set LED Disabled - High doubt it is this. I need the orginal factory firmware that came with the GS108v3 8 port switch. The Pro Safe configuration software identifies it as model GS108E* but the model number on the switch itself is GS108v3. Are they one in the same? The switch is working however when I attempted to upgrade the firmware to version number GS108E v1.0.0.6 it failed and now I can't access the admin page through the browser at the same static ip it had prior and the ProSafe software still detects it but all it keeps asking for is to upgrade the firmware. Clearly attempting to install that version of firmware corrupted it. Luckily as I mentioned my devices connected to it are still online but all other management features are inaccessible. I was thinking if I could get the original factory firmware for that model I could revert back but ofcourse when you search the downloads page for that exact model there are no firmware downloads at all for it. I clearly should have doublechecked that the software identified it as a different model than what was the one the device itself but hindsight and all that...... It is not a huge issue becuase it is still online and providing a connection but if anyone has any suggestions on how to undo my error or a quick fix to get the orginal or correct firmware installed/restored it would be greatly appreciated. Hi Netgear Users and Administrators, I have a little problem with my M4300 GSM4352PS V1. There's possibility that image2 is broken. Device is actually booting from image2. On the console I see that can't boot from image and i see "ERROR: can't get kernel image". I supose that the image1 is a good conditional. Hi everyone — I’m seeing what looks like a firmware regression on the WAX210 after updating to v1.1.0.34, and I want to report it in case others are affected. After updating, the AP now refuses to save any configuration changes (even unrelated ones like just renaming the Access Point). The UI throws this error: SSID1: SSID passphrase length must be between 8 and 63 characters, and contain at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one number, and one special symbol. This happens even when the SSID password is not edited at all. The AP loads the existing (valid) WPA2/WPA3 passphrase and flags it as invalid due to a complexity requirement that didn’t exist before. This appears to be the AP Login Password complexity policy being mistakenly applied to SSID passphrases, which contradicts the official manual. SSID passwords for WPA2/WPA3 should only require 8–63 characters. Reproduction Steps Update WAX210 to firmware 1.1.0.34 Log into the web interface Make any change (example: AP Name only) Click Apply The SSID password complexity error appears, even though SSID settings were untouched Impact. The AP cannot accept any configuration changes unless the SSID password is replaced with a much more complex passphrase. This forces a complete re-key of all connected devices. Expected Behavior Per the WAX210 User Manual, SSID passphrases should be valid with: 8 to 63 characters No requirements for uppercase/lowercase/digits/symbols Those rules worked correctly in previous firmware versions. Current Workaround Rolling back to firmware 1.1.0.25 or 1.1.0.20 fully resolves the issue. Request Can Netgear please confirm whether this is a regression in 1.1.0.34 and escalate to the firmware engineering team? This issue effectively prevents configuration of the device. I can provide: Screenshots of the error dialog A configuration backup A short video showing the issue Exact hardware revision and serial if needed Thanks in advance.137Views3likes0CommentsNighthawk M2 IP PassThrough stops working when idle
