I'm trying to set up E-MAil logs on the FVS338. Years ago this already worked successfully. E-Mail Server: securesmtp.t-online.de Custom SMTP Port: 587 E-Mail User account from ISP: t-online I have ticked "Login Plain" entering username and password from ISP t-online. I have ticked "Respond to Identd from SMTP Server. The FVS338 ist installed directly behind a FRITZBOX 7490. The fritzbox is connected to the VDSL Line. Basically there is a DMZ between the FRITZBOX 7490 and the FVS338 but with now additional devices connected to it. FVS338 Firmware: 3.1.1-08 (Latest version) IP Address Fritzbox 7490: 192.168.2.1 Gateway address in FVS338: 192.168.2.1 Satic IP Address from FVS338: 192.168.2.109 LAN TCP/IP Setup: IP Address: 192.168.100.109 in FVS338 DHCP Server in FVS338 is enabled. Using FVS338 Diagnostics, it can resolve the SMTP-server securesmtp.t-online.de. Ping on resolved IP-Addresses is working fine. Checking the SMTP-server login data using the FRITZBOX 7490 is successful ( I'm receiving Mails from the Push service of the Fritzbox 7490) Checking SMTP-Server settings using Microsoft Outlook / POP3 is successful as well. All internet applications are working excellent. When Trying to send Logs via E-MAil (Menu: "Firewall Logs & EMail/View Log/"SendLog") , the router responds with "Connection interrupted" No e-Mails are sent out or received by my E-Mail provider. My Question: What is wrong in my FVS338 Settings ? Is there a possibility to check the communication problem of the FVS338 with the SECURSSMTP.t-online.de ? ( I do not see any log-entry in the Log data) I would be glad if someone could help me. Best Regards RalfSolved5.2KViews0likes2CommentsFVS338 Wan state:Down
Problem - Cannot connect to internal CCTV and it cannot use SMTP to get out. Background - We have FTTC connected to BTOpenreach switch, from here we connect to Plusnet and then onto the FVS338. Within the office we are OK to use VOIP phones, RDP out as needed and of course browse the internet. The Prosafe also cannot send emails to our external mailserver. If this were a Cisco asa5505 it would be far simpler perhaps. Greetings, I have 4 locations using FVS338s in a hub and spoke VPN configuration. I want to change from hub and spoke to a fully connected VPN network topology. Is the FVS338 smart enough to perfom least cost routing? Will this work? Thanks in advance.11KViews0likes3CommentsFVS338 end of life? Alternative router with multi-NAT?
I've standardised on the FVS338 for multi-NAT firewall routing from our corporate LAN to various industrial machines. I'm having trouble purchasing these in Europe and one supplier has informed me that the product is discontinued. 1. Has it been discontinued? 2. What would be a similar product? I need multi-NAT firewall. I don't need (or want) wireless. 8 LAN ports. Thank you.12KViews0likes3CommentsFVS338 VPN problem
Hi I've had my FVS338 3.0.7-24 with a single remote access VPN working for a long time to an iPhone. Today I wanted to configure a site-to-site IPSec VPN tunnel between the FVS338 and another site running Vyatta. I don't know why but the remote access VPN doesn't work anymore and I can't get the site-to-site working at all. I've tried rebooting the FVS338 but it hasn't helped. Is the FVS338 not capable of having both remote access and site-to-site working at the same time? Thanks12KViews0likes7CommentsFVX538 - Problems
Hello all: I am back, I have two FVX538 V2 units I have the following problems one of which has been ongoing for over a year. -======================= First Problem: I cannot get either of the units to take the firmware upgrade. I get an error that says: Upgrade Failed: Invalid Firmware File Length........ I have downloaded the firmware from the Netgear site at work and at home, file size is 7.55 MB from both locations, neither file seems to want to work. The firmware currently installed is 3.0.6-29 -======================= Second Problem: Every time I initiate an FTP update on my server the FVX538 craps out. The unit loses its internet connection and does not reset itself for up to 15 minutes or until I reboot the Netgear unit. I have taken this problem to Netgear support but there is no resolution to date and my last support request was 3/1/2011 I have the EXACT same problem as this post: http://forum1.netgear.com/showthread.php?t=63213&highlight=fvx538 It is most frustrating to have to take the FVX538 off-line, put on-line a FVS338 perform FTP upgrades only to then remove the FVS338 and reinstall the FVX538. It makes NO sense that when we perform an upgrade on the server which uses FTP to upgrade the server that the FVX538 unit loses its connection to the internet and locks up. What I have done is HARD RESET the routert, reset to factory defaults three times then after the third reset, reinstalled the settings by hand NOT using the backup restore and this does not appear to help at all. I have done this at least four times, twice per unit and it still does NOT work. It also makes NO sense that I have two of these FVX538 units and they BOTH act the same way. -====================== My setup is : WAN to FVX538, FVX538 to Netgear switch, switch to server, switch to workstations. Monitoring with the FVX538 is NOT an option as the unit locks up and I cannot stop the monitoring and download the file. All monitoring with the FVX538 is lost when it resets or I have to reboot the unit. I have Wireshark loaded on a laptop and a small Netgear 4 port hub – I can try to monitor on the LAN side or move hub in front of the FVX538 between router and WAN and I guess I could monitor the WAN. -===================== Up until now this has only been a nuisance but this is getting old. I REALLY NEED HELP WITH THIS. I would appreciate ANY help that anyone can provide. Thank you Kobie12KViews0likes9Comments
