Hello all In November I saw that Comcast offered a higher tier internet service in my neighborhood. Speeds are advertised up to 986 Mbps. Since I signed up I’ve only seen 350-400 Mbps. I had a couple of online chats and phone calls with Comcast. I also had two techs come to the house to check the signal to the house. The second tech said that Comcast had to approve new firmware for my CM1000 modem (this was in December). He said that once Comcast approved the firmware then Netgear would push the upgrade to my modem directly. I called to try to get credit for billing since I wasn’t getting the correct speeds and I was forced to chat with Comcast tech support again. The tech sent me a link to the Nighthawk X6 router firmware page to update my CM1000 cable modem :| When I told them it was the wrong equipment they told me to contact Netgear directly to receive my firmware update. I sent this link to him. https://www.netgear.com/support/product/CM1000#download It says “Current Versions Firmware upgrades are pushed down by your ISP. For more information, please see our Knowledge Base .” He just told me to talk to Netgear :| Has anyone had any success getting advertised speeds with Comcast Gigabit Internet? Hi, I recently got a Netgear CM1000 modem on my gigabit Xfinity connection. When I hook my laptop up to the modem directly I am getting close to a gigabit connection, at least above 900 Mbps consistently. But when I hook up (ethernet) through my R7000 with fully upgraded stock firmware I'm still just getting around 200 Mbps which is the speed I used to have before my connection was upgraded. What could the reason be for me not getting any speed increase when connecting through the router? As far as I can see the the router should be able to handle the speed.Solved16KViews0likes5CommentsR7500v2 gigabit speed via LAN
I have a brand new R7500v2 router and new gigabit internet. But when I connect to the internet through the router I do not get gigabit speeds. When I connect directly to my modem I get closer to the gigabit speeds that I shoudl be seeing. I have ATT fiber and the provided gateway/router is installed in my basement. I have two other levels so I bought the Nighthawk EX7000. I have created two networks (2.4ghz and 5ghz) so I have the coverage. Now I'm looking for the speed. It will be difficult for me to run a Cat 6 cable to the ideal location for the Nighthawk, so I wanted to see if a gig powerline adapter may work so I could use the Nighthawk as an access point. Will it take away from my current speed by getting in the middle? Should I label the two new networks the same as my existing ones that I have with ATT? Other suggestions?3.3KViews0likes1CommentGS108 to GS108T but only 100Mbps between them?
Hi, I have both a GS108 and a GS108T connected together. The GS108 has two PCs connected, both connecting at 1Gbps. The GS108T has 6 100Mbps devices (avr, blu-ray player etc) and a gigabit Asus router connected. However the connection between the two switches is only showing 100Mbps? Any thoughts on why this would be? There's only about 15m between the two switches so I don't understand why they won't connect at 1Gbps. Are there special ports on them for connecting between the two switches? Many thanks, Paul.Solved8.5KViews0likes4Comments
