Hello my name is Peter and I posted some requests about essential functions on the GS1xxE series of switches. It seems there have been some ideas posted here but there is no respons whether these things are being implemented or not or any timeframe given. I personally had a request about adding a menu in the GS1XXE switches to enter some allowed mac addresses to prevent a user to connect some rogue equipment on the network. Could it be that the chipset does not support such functionality! Couldn't you post back that the engineers are working with this, this and this function and it will be ready in 1-3 months or something. Anyways a definitive answer would be appreciated so that I may peruse other brands that has similar 5-port switches. Hello, I would like to know how we can receive some feedback about feature requests that has been made. Has posted some ideas over in idea exchange for business but there is now feedback whether things are going to be included in next firmware or not neither any timeframe given. I would be happy to receive some feedback so I know they are working on it or not so I can move on and look for other alternatives/brands instead. kindly PeterSolved2.6KViews0likes2CommentsCan't get GS110TP to work as simple as GS105E
For my work I have to check services going over utp links in different vlans. I used a GS105E with its mirror function. I can connect the GS105E without any vlan configuration and all traffic of dozens of vlans passes transparent over the switch. Now I have to do the same over fiber optics and got a GS110TP for that but can't get it to work as simple as before with the GS105E. Now it looks like that I have to configure a lot of vlans and that the GS110TP is restricted to 64 vlans. Does someone know how to do it similar on the GS110TP as on the GS105E?Solved7.3KViews0likes10CommentsXAVB5201, GS105E, and VLAN's
I just wanted to post this in hopes someone else might find it useful. I had a network installation for a business in a historic old house. As such, we were not allowed to drill holes and run CAT5e without going through a long committee approval process. But at the same time I needed a way to run the cable company Internet feed from the entry point in the basement, up to the ground floor to the FVS318N firewall, and then post-firewall back downstairs to a basement office. Initially I tried doing this via 802.11gn wireless, but the floors kept interfering with the signal and causing drop outs and wildly variant connection speeds. So I purposed to employ a new & better solution (if I could) ... powerline. So I purchased 2 XAVB5201 kits (4 total units) and deployed them at each location needing network access. I also reset the factory security key on each unit. As I only needed 3 actual locations, I then deployed 3 GS105E ProSafe Plus switches. I configured the switches to have 2 VLAN's each using the Advanced 802.1Q feature; one for the raw unfiltered Internet feed, and one for the post-firewall filtered feed. It took a few notes and some restarts to get it configured just right, but the final install works flawlessly. By using the Advanced 802.1Q feature in the GS105E's I'm able to establish VLAN's and assign ports and PVID's to each of the affected ports on the switch. Also, because I configured all 3 switches to "see" both networks even if they don't participate per se I can "see" all three switches from a management workstation using the ProSafe Plus Utility AND also "see" all the powerline devices using the Netgear PowerLine Utility. An elegant solution to an in-elegant world. Post question if you wish and I'll try to answer. :)12KViews0likes2Comments
