My wifi devices cannot see all of my Google Home devices in order to Chromecast. Depending on whether I'm connected to 5/2.4 GHz or the base station/satellite, I see a different collection of Chromecast speakers and groups, but never all of them at the same time. Casting only works most of the time. Re-setting up the speakers often leads to "your phone is unable to communicate with the Google Home" errors and a link to help article on AP isolation, though they can all connect to the wifi just fine. Repeating the setup multiple times eventually succeeds but the problem of not being able to see all the speakers persists. I've tried getting them all on the 5 GHz band by disabling Fast Roaming, I've tried disabling daisy chain / MIMO / beamforming, all with no success. Everyone seems to indicate that Google Wifi works great, so I'm assuming it's a bridge setting or something buried in Netgear that's causing the problem, rather than an inherent problem with mesh networks. Extensive Googling hasn't really turned much up. Does anyone have any tips? I'm on firmware 2.1.4.10.ex8000 nighthawk X6S mesh network via AP mode
I have a Nighthawk X6S EX8000 and would like to know if the mesh WiFi will still work if in AP mode? I have a Nighthawk X4S router and have an Ethernet cable ran to where I have the Nighthawk X6S extender, is there a way to have the mesh WiFi work without having the WiFi extender connect to router via WiFi748Views0likes1CommentOrbi + Powerline on one mesh?
I plan to use a 2x Orbi system in my house; there is lots of roaming in the house so the mesh system allowing for devices to seamlessly pass between the two Orbi's will be a big bonus. I live on a farm and we also have an area around the farm sheds not too far from the house where we'd like good WiFi coverage. There is a powerline between the hosue and the sheds so I can use a powerline connector, but we also get very bad WiFi coverage from the house AP's (sometimes) to the shed area, so the problem is that if I wander down to the shed with my phone, even though there's a good strong AP down there my phone remains connected to the house AP. So the question is: is there a way to extend an Orbi mesh through a powerline connector so I can have seamless handover in the shed area?
