Just curious... has anyone gotten their Airport Time Capsule to work on Orbi yet? Or, more generally, is anyone using Time Machine with Orbi? I've got my Time Capsule hooked up to the Orbi satellite. You can see it in the list of attached devices, but it's showing up in my Finder as a SMB share (with a PC icon) and I'm unable to connect to it. Would it work better with the main Orbi hub? Thanks for any tips you might have! (I'm running macOS Sierra 10.12.2 with the Orbi Firmware Version 1.4.0.18)OSX 10.11 Finder doesn't refresh SMB3

I tried to install the NetGear Genie software on my macs (both on my iMac and on my Macbook) but whenever I download the Genie installer it complains on 'invalid checksum'. I tried from the download center, from the R7000 support page and ever from download.cnet.com. All same result. Other dmg files downloaded work just fine. I used OS X El Capitan on both Macs. Anyone else with this problem? Any known workarounds? thanks, SnamellitSolved4.6KViews0likes4CommentsSMB Registered user password to ReadyNAS 314 denied in MAC Finder connection
ReadyNAS 314, version 6.7.4, Mac OS 10.12.5 Recently, the SMB access from Finder to the shares will not take the Registered User password (which I verified is correct in Keychain Access). I have to change to Guest. Does not seem to cause an issue, but it has worked for years until lately. Everything is connected via Ethernet, and everything works. Evn the Windows 7 Vitrual Box Virtual Machine is fine, and my wife's Windows 10 PC never asks for a password either. The admin page says all the folder owners are "guest" and access is anonymous. What am I doing wrong?4.3KViews0likes10CommentsNetwork error on readycloud app
Firmware 6.9 Readycloud app v1.4 When I try to log in via the ReadyCloud App (v1.4, OSX) I get "Network Error. The ReadyCloud server is not available". I can connect via the web portal, can access the admin page, can find the readynas via the RAIDar etc. The desktop app worked up until recently, and I can't figure out what's changed. I've tried logging in with different cridentials, tried reinstalling the app. No change. I set eveything up a while ago and don't remeber what it used to look like. Using the readycloud web app, I don't see my own account under "shared folders", and it won't let me invite my own account to share a folder. I hed to re-add another account that had diasppeared at some point for some reason. I assume that the main account has automatic permission to access all folders? Any thougts on why the app doesn't work? I've wasted a lot of time on this already and it's probably something dumb. When accessing the ReadyNAS RN104 from a 2011 MacBook Pro through Finder (whether the app itself or from inside another app's open dialog) it takes an extremely long time to populate a folder or transfer a file. Clicking on folders in finder can take several minutes of the wait cursor spinning before the folder is sudden;y populated. It can take up to ten minutes to transfer a file of a few KB. This problem appears to be intermittent and random and sometimes will work correctly but more often than not the issue is there which makes the NAS virtually unusable. I have the ReadyNAS RN104 installed on my local network attached via ethernet to my wifi router. The IPv4 address is set using DHCP from the router and DNS is working correctly as I can ping the NAS unit by hostname from all systems on the LAN. Firmware on the NAS is version 6.6.0. I have two MacBook Pros and the issue affects both of them, while I also have two Windows 10 laptops which have no problem at all. The issue occurs on the Macs whether we use AFP or SMB to access the NAS and happens whether we connect over wifi or a direct ethernet connection to the router (negating wifi problems as a factor). I have had the RN104 for nearly a year now and this issue always seems to have been there. Thanks in advance3.9KViews0likes5CommentsNETGEAR Genie installer destroys OS X system databases
I want to document this behavior so that if anyone else is wondering what's happened, you'll understand. You run the NETGEAR Genie installer on OS X. At the end of the installation, your Dock disappears for a second. When it comes back, your desktop picture has changed to a system default and whatever custom Desktop Picture settings you had are wiped out. The reason it does this is because there a bug in the installer. At the end of the installation, it deletes any database located in your ~/Library/Application Support/Dock folder. Maybe years ago that was safe. Maybe in the future that will crash your machine. But right now the database it deletes is the one that stores the Desktop Picture settings. (The dock vanishes because the installer is killing the running program for some reason.) There is no work-around for this issue. Your only choices are to either a) Don't install the NETGEAR Genie on OS X, or b) write down all of your Desktop Picture configuration settings before you install, run the installer, then reset the settings back to what you had. And do the same thing each time you accept an upgrade of the Genie software. I attemped to report this to NETGEAR but was unsuccesful. It is the kind of issue that the NETGEAR tech support process is not designed to handle, since it is the installer itself that causes the system damage, not the Genie software. Nor does it have anything to do with the router itself.3.6KViews1like2CommentsRed circle on finder folders ReadyNAS
I've been having problems using Readycloud with finder on my mac. Here's the process I've been following: Use Readycloud to connect to my NAS via a finder window. Drag a folder (usually around 2 GB—these are photo catalogs) to a folder on my NAS. Close finder window, then re-open it to the same location. When I do this, I'm seeing a red dot on the folder with a minus sign inside. When I click on one of these folders in finder, I cannot see its contents or any information about it other than its name. (see screenshot) When I go to the Readycloud web interface, I can verify that all of my files have successfully transfered, but for some reason they are not accessible by finder. What gives? Any tips? Using OSX 10.12.6 and my ReadyNAS is running firmware 6.8.11.7KViews0likes3Comments
