roaming

Moving to a new office. I will have several Cat7 drops. The R6300v2 and R7800 listed in this post are the current routers (used as WAPs only) in my old office. Now... I'd like to wire the WAPs and have romers do 802.11k handoff. I called sales ("We don't support it") and looked on the community boards (same info). Yet I know (or at least know the advertising says) that the EX8000 has it. So (a) what units are 802.11K capable, and (b) if the EX8000 is, then can I use it as a basic WAP through one of its RJ45's, and not the dedicated channel? Any knowledgable input appreciated!Solved2.9KViews0likes4CommentsConnectivity loss when switching back to the router from satellite
Wonedring if anyone else is seeing an issue similar to the below. At this point I've replaced the Orbi router, had a spare, with no success in correcting the problem. The Orbi is running in AP mode directly connected to a router. This happens in router mode as well. Two satellites on each end of the house. When walking to one side of the house the satellite takes over with limited or no impact as expected. When I walk back to the Orbi base router the same thing happens. Everything is good. When walking towards the other satellite it takes over as expected BUT when walking back to the router the switchover takes place, I can see the WiFi signal integrity change as expected, but I can no longer pass traffic to my LOCAL network. Nothing on my 192.168.1.x network is reachable / pingable except the router plugged directly into the WAN port and the Internet. If I power off the second satellite everything returns to normal about 20 seconds later. I'm running the latest firmware, as mentioned replaced the router (since it is what I had) and have reset everything on multiple occassions. Not sure if this is an issue but since I needed to satellites, and like to have spare equipment, I did purchase two router / satellite combinations. One of the satellites is from the second unit but I'm not sure which is which.SolvedRoaming/Handoff between AC1200 and WNDAP360
We have a Wifi network in the 5GHz range with a single WNDAP360. We use the ascom I62 WLAN Phones with good results. Now we had to extend the coverage of the 5GHz network. Sine we can't place a second WNDAP360 (due to missing network cables) we descided to use a range extender AC1200 for this. This works fine, with the exception of the roaming/handoff. When a handover occurs from the AC1200 to the WNDAP360 or vice versa, then we have a 3-5 second "silence" on the phone. Most of the time it then continues to work, but sometimes the VOIP connection drops completely. What do I have as options to provide seamless roaming/handoff without gap in the audio? Would a second WNDAP360 configured as repeater improve the situation?3.8KViews0likes1Comment
