New RBE973S 3-pack, set up this weekend. Both satellites on wired backhaul, firmware V9.13.2.1_1.3.35, Router mode (not AP), Smart Parental Controls trial active until April 6. During initial setup, the Orbi app showed pause/block toggles next to each device. After the satellites received a firmware update, the toggles disappeared and haven't come back in 24+ hours. Device names I set also keep reverting to defaults. Tried: Power cycling everything 3-5 times, force closing app, logging out/in, toggling Armor and Parental Controls off/on. Nothing worked. The catch-22: The web interface (Advanced > Security > Access Control) says "To use Access Control, please use the Orbi App." But the app no longer shows the controls. Neither place works. Question: Is this a firmware bug, or have basic device pause/block controls been moved behind the paid Smart Parental Controls subscription? This was a free built-in feature on previous Orbi generations. Customers buying a $1,900 mesh system should be able to pause a device without a recurring fee. Love the hardware — 2.3Gbps wired, flawless coverage across a 4,300 sq ft tri-level. Just need the software to catch up.63Views0likes11CommentsOrbi 770 Essentially Not Working
At this point, my Orbi 770 is almost unusable. After 5 months, I started having serious problems. I can't reliably connect to my work VPN, my family is regularly seeing internet connection problems (not wifi connection problems), many web sites come back as not secure (no HTTPS) and the adult content filtering has stopped working. I factory reset the router and satellite, deleted the orbi app and it's data, then set up the router from scratch. I still have the same problems. I have an Eero router. When I switch to this router, everything works and web pages load significantly faster. Is anyone else seeing similar problems?526Views1like5Comments
