RBE971 (9.13.2.1) — Device Pause/Block Toggles Disappeared from App

New RBE973S 3-pack, set up this weekend. Both satellites on wired backhaul, firmware V9.13.2.1_1.3.35, Router mode (not AP), Smart Parental Controls trial active until April 6.

During initial setup, the Orbi app showed pause/block toggles next to each device. After the satellites received a firmware update, the toggles disappeared and haven't come back in 24+ hours. Device names I set also keep reverting to defaults.

Tried: Power cycling everything 3-5 times, force closing app, logging out/in, toggling Armor and Parental Controls off/on. Nothing worked.

The catch-22: The web interface (Advanced > Security > Access Control) says "To use Access Control, please use the Orbi App." But the app no longer shows the controls. Neither place works.

Question: Is this a firmware bug, or have basic device pause/block controls been moved behind the paid Smart Parental Controls subscription? This was a free built-in feature on previous Orbi generations. Customers buying a $1,900 mesh system should be able to pause a device without a recurring fee.

Love the hardware — 2.3Gbps wired, flawless coverage across a 4,300 sq ft tri-level. Just need the software to catch up.

  • I am experiencing the exact same thing. Radio buttons disappeared right after I updated to V9.13.2.1. Incredibly frustrating as I used those buttons to manage my kids' screen time. Claude says it's a "firmware bug" that needs to be fixed by NETGEAR. I imagine if it has not been fixed by now they have no intention of adding those buttons back.

  • TBH, it feels like their trying to force us to subscribe to the SPC to enable on/off features for specific devices.

Are the router and both satellites now running the same firmware version?

My Orbi app has a White PAUSE icon in side a circle, upper right hand corner of the app window  for each device I select on. Selecting this pauses access and changes to a right arrow button to un-pause the devices internet access with my 970 series system.

My Android app, v2.51.0.5242, does not display anything like that.  On the app Device Manager screen, every device has the network icon (WiFi strength or Ethernet symbol) and the slider.  The slider is missing from the device running the Orbi app (as it should be).  SPC has never been enabled on my Orbi system.

Thanks for posting this.  This is what displays after a device on the list that comes up after selecting "Device Manager" on the app?

My app looks nothing like this.

Assigned Profile would seem to indicate that SPC is enabled on this system?

Pause button appears with or with out SPC enabled.

Can select any devices on the RBR or RBS and should see the pause icon.

I also see this place/pause button when I click on a specific device in the device manager window.
