Orbi 770 Essentially Not Working

At this point, my Orbi 770 is almost unusable.  After 5 months, I started having serious problems.   I can't reliably connect to my work VPN, my family is regularly seeing internet connection problems (not wifi connection problems), many web sites come back as not secure (no HTTPS) and the adult content filtering has stopped working.

I factory reset the router and satellite, deleted the orbi app and it's data, then set up the router from scratch.  I still have the same problems.

I have an Eero router.  When I switch to this router, everything works and web pages load significantly faster.

Is anyone else seeing similar problems?

  • Some additional detail.  I have the latest firmware.  While my work VPN (Global Protect) will not reliably connect, McAfee VPN works reliably.   When I connect to McAfee VPN on my personal laptop, all of the problems reliably go away.

So you only have issues when the work VPN is connected?

  • When you FR and setup from scratch, did you use Orbi app to reinstall the system or setup using a web browser?

What Firmware version is currently loaded?

Who is the ISP your connected with?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.
    How many RBS are deployed?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

Does this happen with the RBS turned OFF?
Does this happen with both wireless and wired devices?
What channel configurations are currently set on the router?

Be sure to disable any MAC Address randomizers on phones and pads while at home:

Try disabling the following and see:
Armor, Smart Parental Controls or Circle, IPv6, Traffic Meter.

I've not seen this with my 770 series, however I don't use VPN and have Cable ISP services here.

  • Thanks for the reply.

I set up the router with both the web interface and the app.  I actually went through factory reset 3 times.

The router is running v10.5.18.3.   There are no updates beyond this available.

The IPS is Verizon and I have an ALU ONT, which I've rebooted multiple times.

Using the same ONT and ethernet cable, I get flawless connections with the Eero router I also have.

My two laptops are a few feet away from the router and stay connected to the router without a problem.  I don't think this is a wifi connection problem.

What is the model # of this ONT?

Is IPv6 enabled on the RBR?
Are you using ISP DNS or custom DNS on the RBR?
