This model has FW 6.6.1, 4x3tb, XRaid. Everything shows green on the performance page. The only other thread the search came up with doesn't have an answer, so I'm starting a new discussion. We've got 6 RN31400s, and one of them has started locking up every night. Normally the display is blank and I have to unplug and plug it back in to bring it back to life. This morning, there was an error code on the LCD display "out of memory isra.13+31c". I still had to unplug it and plug it back in. Netgear support says I can buy a service contract if I want to talk to them, or I can post to the form, so here I am. The last item in the log before I unplug and replug the nas is always "snapshot (some guid) successfully deleted from share or LUN SQL" SQL is a share name where backups of our databases are kept. I changed the snapshot schedule for SQL to "Never", and the Shares page shows 0 snapshots, but every night it still says "snapshot (some guid) successfully deleted from share or LUN SQL" and locks up I suppose my next step is to delete the SQL share and create a new one, but I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas before I had to modify all our SQL backup jobs. I recently upgraded to 6.6.1 and I have researched all the Snapshot posts I can but still don't know what the right solution is for me. I use my NAS to store things that are only rarely changed....they reside there, and the shares are added to with new files. An occasional change so I want snapshots if I do something stupid but I won't be trying to go back a year for a file. Further, I don't have my unit powered on all the time, partially because I don't need it that often, and I figure why leave it on if all family member's PC's can expose it to Crypto? Anyway my understanding of the custom schedule that is if your unit is not ON at the time it is scheduled, it won't take it of course. But what does nto make sense to me, it appears that it also won't take it at the next power on? Is this still true on 6.6.1? Also, I like the option to not take a snapshot if there are no changes. In my case if I understand that option correctly that would make a lot of sense, correct? But if the power on issue is real, then I can't use custom. The smart setting would work if I set it for weekly, that does appear to take them when it is powered on??? Is that correct? But my issue with that is the weeklies get promoted to monthly and those are kept "forever" per the documentation. So what's my question? I am trying to get say a weekly (or even monthly if that makes this work) snapshot (upon next power on), and then have it check the following week for changes and if none (very likely for me), don't take a snapshot (makes sense?). And finally, limit the number of snapshots. Per my understanding if I do weekly, after 12 months I will ahve 12 snapshots. And in my case 12 snaphots of which over half will probably be identical. And I would prefer not to have to remember to delete the old snapshots manually...I forget and they build up! Hello all, I have two ReadyNAS 314 that have log entries like those below. The Productions share's snapshot schedule is set to Never but still a snapshot is created and then removed on a 2-hours basis. Every other share is also set to Never have snapshots but they are also in the logs, each with its own schedule. I don't think the snapshots are taking up storage, but their creation seems to cause performance issues. Firmware is 6.4.2 but the issue occurred on 6.4.0 and 6.4.1. Any ideas about how to address? Hi Everyone, I noticed that i was running out of disk space on my ReadyNAS, and when i checked i found that Snapshots were taking up over 2TB. I went into the settings for that folder, and noticed this. So even though the folder thinks there's over 2TB of Snapshot data, the number of snapshots is zero. If i look at the timeline i also don't see any Snapshots. Also, if i navigate to the snapshots folder it's empty. These are the settings... (Note : I changed the snapshot schedule to Never in the hope i could reclaim the space. It was set to weekly before that). So my question is : Where is this data hiding, and how can i delete it to reclaim the space? Cheers, Andy3.7KViews0likes12Comments
