Hi, I have a few devices I want to block from accessing the Internet but still allow them local network access. I understand I can block specific port numbers or assign dummy DNS addresses on specific devices... all of which are decent workarounds. But is it possible to just simply tell my router to block WAN access for a specific device IP/MAC address or somthing similar? -Pete1.6KViews0likes1CommentR7000 Stops Connecting to the Internet

We have a Netgear D6200 and it’s been working beautifully for the last year and a bit. However, I went away on holiday and have come back to find that the connection to the internet is pretty much unusable. I’m reasonably sure there’s something odd going on with the router and I’ve listed out what I’ve observed below. I’d really appreciate any help in trying to get things running smoothly again! Setup We have a fiber optic cable (NBN) connected to a box installed in the house. The Netgear router is connected to this box via ethernet. Our devices connect to the router via WiFi. The router sits on a desk in our living room. It's not in direct sunlight and there aren't any obvious sources of moisture or anything. (We live in Sydney, so it can get pretty warm this time of year, but we left the blinds down the whole time, which normally keeps things a reasonable temperature inside.) The NBN box is in our wardrobe in the bedroom. Symptoms Sluggish/intermittent internet connectivity when browsing/streaming. All devices report a strong connection to the WiFi. The Internet LED is green on the router. When a laptop is connected via WiFi: Pinging the router showed good response times and no packet loss. Pinging www.google.com.au showed poor response time and severe packet loss. (The packet loss is anywhere from 40-80%) When a laptop is connected to the router via Ethernet: Same as with WiFi. It doesn’t seem to be a wireless connectivity issue. When a laptop is connected directly to the NBN box: Pinging www.google.com.au showed good response times and no packet loss. Browsing is as per normal. What I’ve Tried Rebooting the router via the control panel. Powering off the router by pushing the button on the back and unplugging it. Updating the router firmware from V1.1.00.20_1.00.20 to V1.1.00.26_1.00.26. Factory resetting the router. Powering off the router and the NBN box. This seemed to work once, but the problem returned shortly thereafter. Switching the WiFi on and off on our devices.SolvedNetgear R7800 ethernet port speed max 100Mbps
Is about a Nighthawk(R) X4S R7800 firmware version V1.0.2.40 Although a gigabith ethernet connection from the modem is connected to the wan port and a gigabit switchport is connected to ethernet LAN port 1, both show a maximum of 100Mb. Also the connected Gigabit switch port shows a maximum of 100Mb. (connecting other gigabit devices on the switcvh port show a 1Gbps speed) According to the specs , the ethernet ports of the R7800 are 1Gbps. What can be the cause that the bandwidth is max 100Mbps ? router status / internetport statistics:Solved9.8KViews0likes2CommentsAC1900 grayed out internet, LAn, Wan setting under advanced steup

In the last week or two I have suddenly had WAN connectivity issues. The LAN / Wi-Fi works fine and I can connect to router but not past it. I usually reboot both cable modem (Comcast Ubee 3.0) and the R7000 and it works again for 24 hours or so. Tonight I tried using the Test feature in Basic -> Internet. It would allow traffic to pass for 30-60 seconds. Then I rebooted the R7000 using web interface and got no traffic through. Lastly I reboot the R7000 using power switch. Still didn't work. Then I reset cable modem and it worked. Other times though just rebooting R7000 works. I am trying to figure out which component is issue and replace possibly. Any ideas welcome. I recently upgraded the firmware on R7000 to latest but problems didn't start immediately but soon.Solved9.4KViews0likes8Comments
