I just updated to Firmware V1.0.3.16 After the router completed the update, UPNP no longer works. I have tried rebooting the router several times but the port is not being automatically forwarded to the computer on the network. I have never had an issue with this before. Two ports that are usually handled are transmission and Plex. I manually forwarded the ports and it is working. But I shouldnt have to manually manage the connections. Any ideas on how to get it working again?Solved4.4KViews0likes7CommentsQuestions before buying XR500
Hello I moving to a new flat and I will have 900mbit symmetrical internet speed. Internet connection will be provided via ethernet cable and I won't have access to ISPs main router below apartment. I can use whatever router/switch I want, there won't be any issues. My query is; I have 3 smartphones, 2 laptops, 1 desktop PC, 1 PS4, 1 smart TV and Steam Link. Only desktop PC will be connected to router via CAT7 cable, others will be wireless, maybe, just maybe if I can manage it, I will connect Steam Link and PS4 via CAT7 cable but not sure yet due to cable management issues. My flat has 3 rooms and total area is 52 m2. I am checking Reddit, Lifewire, Tom's Hardware, Asus and Netgear forums and Amazon reviews and still I am unsure about what to buy. I have Nighthawk X10, Nighthawk XR500, ASUS GT-AC5300 and Linksys WRT32X in my mind. I want to get full speed of my internet connection without interruption. Also my main usages will be online gaming, 4K video watching and lots of downloads. Which could be right choice for me?Solved24KViews0likes65CommentsCan't disable 60GHz 802.11ad Broadcast Name from being transmitted
Model: Netgear R9000 / AD7200 Nighthawk X10 Router The 60Ghz LED is lit on the router, and under the "Advanced Wireless Settings (60GHz 802.11ad)", the "Enable Wireless Router Radio" is unchecked, but the "Broadcast Name" is still transmitting. All of the other bands are unchecked and aren’t transmitting, so why is this the only one? I've tried every possible configuration in the router setup, but nothing works. Any idea on how to turn it off?Solved4.1KViews0likes3CommentsNo more recessed USB ports
I've had two USB thumb drives overheat and crash (consistantly). Here are the model numbers: 1.) A super-mini thumb drive by Lexmark (32GB, USB3.0 JumpDrive S45 - LJDS45-32GABEU (I liked the low profile, but it clearly couldn't dissipate heat as the USB port on the R9000 is recessed... 2.) A longer thumb drive by Sandisk that has a metal housing (32GB USB3.0 Ultra Flair SDCZ73-032G) which I thought could dissipate heat, but it just can't... The only solution to this is a USB extension cable. NetGear's KnowledgeBase regarding "tested USB drives" is terribly short, and woefully incomplete: https://kb.netgear.com/18985/Will-my-USB-drive-work-with-ReadySHARE (it refers to the "SanDisk 64GB" as being compatible, but it DOES NOT give the model number like it does for every other device listed) The R9000's two USB3.0 ports are positioned under the router's overhanging plastic chasis. This does not allow for heat to disapate from the pen drives, which become too hot to touch. I recomend that future models have the USB ports flush with the router's outermost walls.5.4KViews1like0CommentsAdd the Nighthawk X10 R9000 to the model list in the next field!
In the New Idea section NetGear asks for the "Model (Recommended - Helps the community give the best answers)", but it hasn't added this device which has been out for a year now. I can't find it if it's there when searching for "Nighthawk", "X10", or "R9000", though I can see the other models up until the R8500....5.6KViews0likes0CommentsBridge Nighthawk routers: x8 r8500 to x10 r9000
Hi all, I just bought an upgrade r9000 (x10) from my current r8500 (x8) router due to plex and 10gbe lan. The issue I'm having is that my router is at one end of the house, and prior I used eero routers in conjunction to reach all areas of my house, but the biggest problem here is that eero sucks at having simultaneous connections, especially playing video games on 3-4 pcs! So instead of getting rid of my r8500, I was hoping to get rid of my eero. I'm hoping to use my r8500 as a bridge in the middle of the house so it extends the reach to the end of the other side. I tried #1 rated av powerline 2000 and was getting extremely low speeds vs wifi, so that was returned since it didn't work. As a bridge, wouldn't this work since both are supposedly able to transfer fast speeds (especially within lan)? I tried looking at how to bridge these two together but couldn't find anything. Help and insight would be great! Thank you!Solved6.7KViews0likes2CommentsX6S Extender + X10 Router Issues
Hello, I recently replaced my prior wifi system with a new X10 router which is working well. I added an X6S to bring ethernet access to a few components at an enternaiment center. I'm in a 2500 sq ft. house. I've setup the X6S router 2 different times, using WPS or the web setup and it connects to both the 2.5G and 5G networks correctly. After a few minutes it lights up with all white LED's including the "fast wifi" light. The componenents I connect via wifi (xbox, set top box, sonos playbar and media streamer) I then start having massive issues with the rest of the wifi network. my macbook, cell phone and other items are disconnected and I receive errors "another device is using your IP address" on my macbook. Device connectivity to the ethernet ports on the router is intermittment, some of the devices cannot obtain an IP address. I appreciate any guidance or assistance. I'm not having the experience I would expect after purchasing two flagship products.Solved2.7KViews0likes4CommentsX10 R9000 wired network running at 100Mbps
I recently bought a X10 R9000 router to replace my old WNDR4500 N900 router, also from Netgear. I have Cat 6 or better ethernet cable running from the cable modem to the router and from the router to two computers. - When the WNDR4500 was installed, I could achieve ~80 - 100 megabytes per second transfer rates between my two wired computers (~gigabit speeds) - The leds on the old router indicated gigabit ethernet connections - I installed the R9000 in the same location and did not change any of the ethernet wiring or the gigabit switches I have in place - The R9000 shows white flashing leds for the two computers, indicating gigabit ethernet connections - When I transfer a large file, the speed clearly tops out at ~10-11 megabytes per second, like it's hitting a hard limit (looks like ~100Mbps ethernet) - I disconnected everything and connected both computers directly to the router using Cat6 cables and I still see the same transfer rate limit - I turned off any QOS settings I could find, but no change I have already checked for new firmware (none available yet). Do I have a defective R9000? I'm really considering returning this and waiting for a less buggy AC7200 router to come out. At this point, my expensive router looks like a downgrade.Solved3.2KViews0likes5Comments
