Cannot change Port speed

Hi,

I have a S3300 switch with a SPF+ port which is currently active but which is set to no auto-negotiation, 100 Mbps, Full-duplex. The device connected to that port is capable of a higher speed, as is the SPF GBIC. I know this because in another port on a different switch it operates at 1 Gbps.

Using the GUI, I am trying to enable auto-negotiation on the current port, but I cannot get the port to change from its current settings.

No matter what parameter I change, I always receive the error Error! Failed to Set 'Speed' with '100'. The only part of this message is the rate at which I'm trying to set the port.

Even if the only change I make is to set the Auto-negotiation option to Enable, I still get the error message Error! Failed to Set 'Speed' with '100'.

The firmware version of the switch is 6.4.0.18.

Has anyone come across this issue before, and if so, were you able to resolve this?

Whatever make and model of SFP module you are talking of, depending on age and vendor, not all modules are workable (and supported) on switches.

I know that the SPF module is good. If I plug it into the second SPF+ port on the same switch it works at 1 Gbps, auto-negotiate, without any problems.

However, I need to have both SPF+ port in use at 1 Gbps on this particular switch.

It's changing the port settings which are causing the issues.

Whtever, could be either the one SFP port being defect, or this specific probably configured to operate as stacking port insted to generic Ethernet mode?
