Access Denied on Some Websites

Firmware Version    V2.3.1.48

GUI Language Version    V1.0.0.354

When I try to go to certain websites like: Rei.com or costco.com, it gives me the following error:

Access Denied

You don't have permission to access "http://www.rei.com/" on this server.

Reference #18.a7622317.1555912723.8826d8

All parental controls are off

Also added http, https and any service not not to be blocked, just in case.

ORBI is in router mode

Logs are not turned on however  no logs are being collected when attempted access to blocked sites and services

Reset router to default.  No success

Added sites to not block (costco, rei), no success

  • I had the same thing happen. Since I had Access Control on and to block all new connections, I turned it off. Then my devices would connect correctly. After confirming the connections, I turned Access Control back on and everything seems OK again so far.

What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?

Try a factory reset and setup from scratch. Walk thru the setup wizard with a web browser.

I would power off the ISP modem as well for 30 seconds while the Orbi is coming to ready from the reset.

i tried a full reset on the NG ORBI router.  Same results.

When I hook my laptop up to the cable modem, it does not give me the error.

I did reboot the cable modem however just to be sure.

      ISP Provider: Comcast

      Cable Modem: Netgear: CM700-1AZNAS

No firmware is available for the cable modem (yet)

Might try changing DNS on the orbi to  1.1.1.1 and 9.9.9.9 and see if this might help.

Well, the trace is showing that it's getting to rei.com. I presume costco.com would show similar trace.

    The Orbi isn't blocking anything...

I normally would agree with you.

Here is the issue:  gives access denied when I am using the orbi.  When I take it away and hook up with my laptop directly to the cable modem, then it works.  Put it back in place, then its denied.

I was doing some reading apparently this is a known issue with the orbi rbk50.

Got a link to that stuff? It would be useful if we want to pass it on to the Netgear team.

These "blocked sites" things come up from time to time. Not sure that anyone has got to the bottom of them. Sometimes it is just a moved site with a new IP address.

Not, by any chance, a Windows thing?

I ask because you mention the laptop, which I assume means wired LAN. Does wifi do the same thing?

PS Don't expect new firmware for a cable modem. ISPs have to do that, and many just don't bother.
