Adding new products into old mesh?

Hi

I have a fairly old network (AC2200 router and RBS20 satellites). One of my satellites seems to be dying (it keeps dropping the connection and needs rebooting).

Can I buy a replacement of one of the current models and just put in to my network? Will it work?

RBS20 satellites are available on eBay for $30-$40 (plus shipping).  At some point, all of us with 10 year old technology (WiFi5) face a cost-benefit decision.  As we accumulate more devices that support faster and more efficient WiFi standards, such as WiFi6, WiFi6E, and now WiFi7, is it better to stick with the older technology (and occasionally invest more in it) or is it better to move to a newer platform.  If the current system totally meets needs, there may be no obvious benefit from investing in newer technology.

Of the 50 devices on my network, six support newer WiFi standards.  meh.

Plus the used market is pretty saturated with them so its pretty cheap to pickup a used replacement.

No, but there are some used satellites you could choose from.  Netgear's compatibility chart is here:
