    Hello Drobicek

So after you upgraded the unit to 1.4.0.16 the satellite will not connect to the base? Have you tried to press the sync button on both units? Have you tried bringing the satellite closer to the base? You may even need to factory reset the unit after doing the Firmware upgrade.

  • I too am having this issue with latest firmware, particularly once I change Orbi from Router to AP Mode. Opened a ticket with Netgear. Is being escalated to Engineering.
  • .18 no better. Satellite connects to router fine during default setup in router mode. However the moment the router switched to AP Mode and setting applied, the satellite no longer able to sync to the main unit even if only a few feet away.

A couple days away from returning my Orbi and sticking with my bulletproof Open-Mesh setup.

      Hello

I complained and got a new one.
After the automatic upgrade to v1.4.0.18 everything is fine in AP mode.

Old FW is problem, please upgrade new FW.

Thanks all and very love, no war.

  • Unfortunately v1.4.0.18 did not resolve this issue for me in AP Mode. Main unit and satellite do not sync. Satellite continues to flash white and never turns blue.
  • My support ticket has been escalated to Tier 2 Orbi support engineers. Netgear has been highly engaged and actively working with their Orbi engineers to address this issue. This should help others experiencing same issue.
  • Netgear Tier 2 support has issued an RMA to replace the satellite unit. Believed to be faulty hardware. Will report back upon receipt of replacement unit.

      Hello,

This is good news, I think that I also had a defective unit.

Good luck and Happy Christmas from Czech Republic in europe

  • Discovered something useful for those who have sophisticated home network security such as Sophos UTM. When Orbi is setup in AP Mode, the satellite will fail to sync with the main unit if ICMP packets back to the gateway are either being dropped or blocked. Once I allowed internal network ICMP packets to be sent to my gateway device, the satellite immediately synced with the main/router unit in AP Mode.

This should be shared with Netgear Tier 2 support.
  • Bought the ORBI with one satellite two weeks ago and have not had a single day when the wifi has not dropped. Have tried everything that I could find on all the forums. Tried both router and AP modes, FW upgrade, resetting, restarting, fixed IP mode, DHCP.....you name it.....

Getting tired and just about to lose it.....

The main unit loses connection, satellite loses connection....and now the main unit is on staedy magenta light...very disappointed Netgear could release a product with so much of unresolved mess.
