Multiple Network names/passwords

Hello!
I own a 6,800 sq. ft, 8 unit. Airbnb property. I have an Orbi router (RBR20) with 2 satellites (both RBS20), because the website showed me that this mesh system could cover 6,000 sq. ft.

However, all 8 units do not receive the same coverage. I need to get some extra satellites or Orbi Voice devices, but I am in need of help with this.

Our main goal is to have a different wifi name and password for each Unit.

Ex. Unit 1s wifi name would be Sojourn1, PW: SojournUnit1
Unit 2; Sojourn2; SojournUnit2

and so on.

Is there a way I can do this with multiple routers or satellites?

What would be the best recommendation?

Thanks for taking time to help!

  • You may need to look into a business class system for your needs. Orbi home products is based on a signal wifi SSID and single PW. Something that you won't be able to use for your needs. Orii 20 series only supports up to 6000sq ft and not beyond. Somnething a 50 series would do better however again, would not work for you wifi configuration needs.

You might try Orbi pro however not sure if that will support your needs either. I recommend looking into business class wifi systems for your needs.

To do this correctly you would need Enterprise APs controlled through a central management system, which could get quite expensive. Wiring the building and adding multiple routers may have interference issues, because of 8 routers in a small area.

Since the RBR20 is a less powerful Orbi system with less coverage, it would be cheaper to get a more powerful Orbi system like the RBK53 and add more satellites to it. Depending on the layout of the building, 1 router and 4 satellites may cover it. However you will have 1 WIFI SSID for main and 1 WIFI SSID for guest.

Correct. The best solution is to stay with a more powerful Orbi system, forget the multiple SSIDs, as the expense can get costly, and add satellites as needed.
