Need to EXTEND Orbi outdoors
I purchased this system 2 months ago and in our 2500 sq ft, 3 level home, coverage and performance have been exceptional, however once you go outside to our patio - which is less than 25' away from t...

Yes speed being the Ookla Internet speed test. My ISP service is for 50mbps, and what impressed me the most about Orbi was I went from about 30 down and 5 up to over 50mbps and 12mbps respectively. In comparison, plugging directly into the ISP router my speeds were only a little better. I think my assumption that my new satellite was going to provide faster speed than 30mpbs was incorrect. But in case I'm wrong about that I was hoping someone might confirm otherwise. If everything hinges on proximity from the satellite and the main Orbi router, then I can see the mesh acting more as a coverage extension rather than a performance enhancement - again I am open to be corrected at any time :)

hi
yes its sat to router and in my testing its about 15 meters or less from router to the sat is about the right distance , the orbi isnt actually mesh in desigh and is more star based so each sat connects back to the router ( note : this may change in the furure depending on what the dev team do )
any greater distance from router to sat and the backhaul connection will be effected and thus slower speeds from the sat's
the idea of the orbi is to provide whole home wifi coverage , here i have 100/40M fiber and prior to getting orbi and with my big honking router in the center of my house the outer room suffered from low wifi coverage and thus slower speeds as a result , now with the orbi installed i get 100/40M anywhere in the house on 5 gig wifi with ease
i have mine setup
sat ---- router ---- sat

OK good information thank you. I'm overall happy with the product so far and now I have a clearer understanding of limitations. I hope that I don't end up with the reported problems with dropping connections!

it is a strange thing this drop out or connectibvity issues as it seem many have no issues at all and other seem to be cursed , it reall doesnt make a lot of sense as to why and im sure its doing the boys in the dev teams heads in trying to figure it out but usually what i am seeing is that if you get one that work it just continues to work and work well
