207 TopicsHow far away can you place the Orbi Satellite?
I have a detached garage with a guest apartment above. It sits about 80 feet from my existing Comcast modem and Apple router in my 3500 SF house. I have tried two Netgear extenders with poor results. I want to be able to use a laptop, mobile devices, and Amazon Firestick in detached apartment. Will Orbi work for this application? If so, how far away can I place the satellite from the base? Will I need a second satellite for the house?SolvedOrbi and Ring products issues
I recently switched from one router + repeater to the Orbi system. No installation problem. When I first connected my Ring Doorbell and 2 Ring Spotlight cameras, no connection issues. One camera connected to the Router, while the Doorbell and the other camera connected to one satellite each. Motion was detected and reported. Live View worked. All was well. Then I started to notice problems with Live View. If there was no motion detected for a while, then Live View would show a black screen (or could not connect). Motion would restore the Live View for 15-30 minutes. I checked the connected devices, and the Dorrbell and camera connected to the satellites would not show in the list. After motion they would show. The camera connected to the router would always be in the list and show Live View with no issue. Testing further, I turned off the 2 satellites and brought one camera back on the house to be close enough to get a signal. Now all are connected to the Router and I have no Live View issue anymore. Therefore it seems there is a problem when Ring products connect to a satellite. I tried all suggestions mentioned on this forum, no luck. Anybody noticed the same issue? Any solution?Samsung Galaxy S8 not working on Orbi RBR40
Galaxy S8 keeps connecting Orbi wifi with message "internet may not be available" then logging off again but all other devices including iOs, TV and laptop can connect quite well. I'm using 1000M internet connection in Hong Kong with maximum speed around 450-550M in my other router - ASUS RT-AC68U. This Orbi only runs around 250M something. I'm very disappointed.Orbi RBR50 and Slow WiFi Problems with iOS Devices
I’ve been experience a very strange problem with slow WiFi speeds on my iOS devices for a few months now and was wondering if anyone might be able to point me to something to try to fix it. It seems that the problem started when I updated our iPhones and iPads to iOS 11 and has been ongoing ever since. I have spoken with Apple about the issue, but nothing we’ve tried has helped. Things like turning Airplane mode on and off, resetting network settings, re-setting up the iPad/iPhone as a new device, etc. Here’s what happens. When home, the iOS devices act normally and have a good connection to the Orbi system and get full Internet speed (150 Mbps for my service) all over the house. If we then take the iOS devices out of the house and connect to another WiFi network, such as at work, all is still well. The problem starts when we return home. They connect to the WiFi network just fine, but if I perform a speed test, they will show anywhere from about 1 Mbps to about 25 Mbps connections and will not get any better throughput. Also, while this is happening, if you try to use an application that accesses the Internet, it will experience long delays in accessing the information every few minutes. Once the delay is over, everything works as expected, but at the low, and sometimes very low, connection speeds. No amount of fiddling with the iOS devices will correct the situation; however, through the process of elimination I found that restarting the Orbi router gets everything back to working as expected. I can’t for the life of me figure out what could potentially be causing this odd behavior, but would appreciate any insight that someone may have and would be willing to share. This is becoming more and more annoying as time goes on.Does Orbi RBK50 support USB3 Connected hard drives?
Hi, Does Orbi RBK50 support USB3 Connected hard disks? My router just can't recognise USB3 hard disks. However it is able to recognise my 8gb uab2 pen drive. Is this a limitation in current firmware. It is very disappointing. Except this I like everything else in this router.SolvedQOS- priority by device
How do I setup high priority for one device in my network over all other devices? E.g., I need high priority for my laptop when I work from home compared to roku or iPad etc. I am surprised I don't see much under QOS for this router. 400 dollars is a lot for router with out moderate featuresOrbi Ethernet Backhaul
I recently bought the Orbi RBK-44-100NAS 4 pack and had a question about connection possibilties, the system is currently setup as 1 router and 3 wireless satelites but I live in a house the has multiple ethernet ports wired throughout the house and was wondering if I can plug one of my satelites into an ethernet plug in my kitchen and have it work as a so called backhaul satelite or if it would even matter or benefit the system, and if so in what way ? Thanks for your helpChromecast (Google Home) on Orbi -- not able to see all speakers
My wifi devices cannot see all of my Google Home devices in order to Chromecast. Depending on whether I'm connected to 5/2.4 GHz or the base station/satellite, I see a different collection of Chromecast speakers and groups, but never all of them at the same time. Casting only works most of the time. Re-setting up the speakers often leads to "your phone is unable to communicate with the Google Home" errors and a link to help article on AP isolation, though they can all connect to the wifi just fine. Repeating the setup multiple times eventually succeeds but the problem of not being able to see all the speakers persists. I've tried getting them all on the 5 GHz band by disabling Fast Roaming, I've tried disabling daisy chain / MIMO / beamforming, all with no success. Everyone seems to indicate that Google Wifi works great, so I'm assuming it's a bridge setting or something buried in Netgear that's causing the problem, rather than an inherent problem with mesh networks. Extensive Googling hasn't really turned much up. Does anyone have any tips? I'm on firmware 2.1.4.10.
