Orbi no longer broadcasts the default Wifi (ORBI) network after reset, unable to setup mesh router
My router has not been working properly after a power outage. It was broadcasting my custom network, but it was unable to connect to internet. I decided to reset the Orbi after trying a few other things (unplugging, replugging, etc...). After doing the reset (hold down the reset button for 10-15 sec), I went to setup the Orbi as a new device. The issue is that it no longer broadcasts the original ORBI** wifi network found by the QR code. Because of this I cannot connect to the Orbi to set it up. It also does not broadcast my custom wifi network anymore. Since you have to set up the Orbi via wifi, my unit is not working. Any suggestions?
In the mean time I bought a Nighthawk and set it up (basically the same setup process as the Orbi), and my new router and internet is working fine.

Is it broadcasting anything?
Are you able to access it through a hardwired device?

I was unaware you could connect via hardwire. All the instructions I found started with connecting to the ORBI** wifi network. How would I connect to the Orbi via hardwire (i.e. which domain/url/IP address to use)?

You simply connect a pc/laptop via ethernet to one of the lan ports on the router.
If you've factory reset it, its default address should be 192.168.1.1 or you can try routerlogin . com
The power issues might have corrupted it and if the hardwiring it doesn't work, you can try recovering it.
You can try recovering it with tftp or nmrpflash.
are you on windows? if so, follow this guide
https://kb.netgear.com/000059634/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-Windows-TFTP
just make sure you enable tftp
https://www.thewindowsclub.com/enable-tftp-windows-10
and here's a video walk through using a tftp client. Use the built in one for windows 10 though. the video is more of an example of how its done.

and if that doesn't work, you can try using nmrpflash

The key part of doing a Factory Reset is to see the LED next to the power button change from green to amber, and then begin to flash. Until it starts flashing, it has not reset.
If power outages are a frequent occurrence, it might be a good investment to purchase a small UPS for the WiFi router. (I actually have the ISP modem, Orbi, and main Ethernet switch on a UPS.) Not to outlast a long outage, but to avoid the voltage surges that often accompany an outage and power restoration.
