  • The first step is to take a deep breath, power off both the Orbi and the modem.

Power on the modem and wait until the lights stabilize, which can be 2-3 minutes.

Make sure the yellow RJ45 (WAN) jack on the Orbi is connected to the one RJ45 jack on the modem.

    Power on the Orbi.

Watch the lights at the top of the Orbi:

Here is what you should see: https://kb.netgear.com/31030/What-do-the-LEDs-on-my-Orbi-mean

If this does not work, do you have a computer with an ethernet jack that can be plugged directly into the modem?

If so, remove the Orbi, attach the computer and see if the computer connects to the internet.

No?  There is a problem with the modem or the service.

Yes? Something else is going on.

This is the first setup for the Orbi?  It was never placed into Access Point (AP) mode before?

  • Yes first time ever. Modem is just modem (no wifi). Modem works with old router. When I login to orbi it shows no isp being detected 0.0.0.0.

Be sure to power OFF both ISP modem and RBR for 30 seconds. Power ON the ISP modem first then let it sync, then power ON the RBR. You might walk thru the setup wizard first with a wired PC and web browser and see if the wizard correctly connects the RBR to the ISP modem.

This is just a crazy idea, but when someone purchases a Orbi, it comes with 90 days of "complimentary" telephone support.  When the product is registered on the Netgear web site, there is link to "support". My Orbi was well past 90 days before I had any issues, so I have never had the fun of talking to Netgear support.  If you get to, please report how they solved (or did not solve) your issue.

  • Any progress on this?
