Orbi RBR40 Degradation
Just installed ATT Fiber. Connected direct to the ATT Router (via wifi, not hardwired) I'm getting 600/600. I've got my Orbi RBR40 connected now in AP mode, and have the wifi bands turned off on the ATT Router. I am not getting more than 330 down when connected through the orbi. If I turn back on the wifi bands of the ATT router and connect to it, I'm getting 600/600 again.
This is an older model Orbi, but the specs say it can get speeds up to 800, so I don't see why this should be happening. No matter which way I set it up, I can't get the same speeds connected through the Orbi. even when right next to the router.
Has anyone experienced this and did you find a solution?

1. What router is that att device?
2. The 866mbps that you can get on the RBR40? Thats the link speed. Not actual throughput. throughput tends to be 55-65% of link speed. You'll never hit 100% of link speed.
The 40 series was released in 2016 and is AC based. The newer AX devices (like I suspect your att gateway is) are going to be faster. Its not comparing the same things.

Please explain in more detail how speed is being measured:
- Using the Speed Test feature on the Orbi router (or Orbi 'app')?
- Using a computer connected to the Orbi router with Ethernet cable?
- Using a WiFi device? (exactly which device is important). As plemans mentioned, the RBR40 is a WiFi5 (802.11ac) device. The newer AT&T router is probably a WiFi6 (802.11ax) device. A WiFi device (smart phone, laptop, tablet, etc.) connected to the RBR40 will achieve a slower speed over WiFi5 than if connected to the AT&T device over WiFi6.
