Orbi RBR50 RBS50 Firmware Version 2.5.1.32

Last night (July 1, 2020), I updated the router through the app since it found an update.  My RBR50 router and two RBS50 satellites updated from 2.5.1.16 to 2.5.1.32 automatically.  Problem is, that one of my three RBS50 satellites didn't and is still on version 2.5.1.16.

I don't mind updated it manually, but the new version can't even be found in the support downloads page (or any information about it at all).

You know, one of my reasons for going with an system was that there was the claim that the system would automatically keep the equipment updated without user intervention.  That sounded awesome since I hated having to do so with the old D-Link and Linksys setup I had.  I'm finding this to be not actually true and simply a Netgear sales department exaggeration of features.  Fact is; I don't get updates unless I initiate them, and when I do, not all satellites update to the new version.

Like I said, I don't mind all that much since I've excepted this over time... but with the latest version nowhere to be found through the support website is very, very frustration to say the least.

You might downgrade the RBR back to v16, factory reset the RBR and RBS then walk thru the setup wizard, add the RBS, then check for the update again.

New FW seems to always appear on the Orbis FW update page first before the manual file downloads appear on the web site.

I just looked in both places and 2.5.1.16 is the latest firmware on the Orbi firmware update web page and on the Netgear support web site.

Perhaps the Orbi "app" has a different method of learning about firmware updates?

Thank you for the reply.  I have a bunch of setting I'd rather not lose till I think it can't be helped.  Then I'll have no choice, but I think I'll give it a few weeks to see if the update shows on the support page.

I think your'e right about that.  It's so weird that "2.5.1.32" wasn't even showing up while searching comments. I thought companies normally put out a version change notice explaining what the update's meant to address.

        Thank you for your reply

In general, this is still true.  There may be temporary periods of time when you think your devices do not have the absolute latest or when you see a mix of different versions, but your equipment will likely update to newer releases within a reasonable period of time.  This automatic update behavior, however, cannot guarantee that you will not sometimes look and see a discrepancy (especially if you're expecting a new version that is not yet available for download).

Companies release new software versions slowly to the install base, in case of occasional problems, and stop or rollback the release when problems are detected.  This can cause discrepancies between installations or even devices within your own home.  I wouldn't worry about it and just trust that they will automatically update without effort on your part.

Good to know, thank you.  I'll try being a little more patent then.  I consider myself an upgrade whore.  I run the BETA gambit with nearly everything.  I don't mind being a test monkey, but I do expect companies to be more transparent and forthcoming with changes made if we are willing to do so.  I'm glad the auto update isn't a complete lie, so thanks again for informing me.
