Orbi RBS50 Flashing White Continually

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Invested a new Orbi RBR50 with RBS50 Satellite.

All setup correctly out of box but then firmware updates happended and it all went wrong.

Router has updated to v2.2.1.210 and is up & running but satellite is still on older version (unknown which) and will not connect to router.

Whenever it is powered on, it just shows a white flashing light (no pulsing).

I have tried resetting just the satellite and then the router also but to no avail.

Is there anyway I can connect to the satellite via ethernet so I can upload the newer firmware file to match the router?

Thanks in advance.

      Hi,
Yes. I’ve held the reset button in for up to a minute but no joy.
      Top just continually flashes white.
It’s not until you have a problem like this that you then realise what should have been done in what order.
When I first setup, the Orbi GUI just said there was an update. It didn’t specifally give any detail with regards to order sequence.
      Thanks

The only thing I believe that can work, you'll have to grab the prior version v.16 of FW file for the router from NG support site. Apply this to the router to downgrade it, long enough to apply the newer version of FW to the satellite, then upgrade the router back to most current version. Grab both new and prior versions for the router before you attempt this. I would also disconnect the Orbi router from the ISP service after it's updated to keep it from re-updating to the recent version until you get the RBS updated...

I would do a full factory reset on everything and set up from scratch if you can get the satellite upgraded and connected.

    • Bring your Orbi router and satellite near to your router and laptop.
    • Now remove the ethernet from the orbi router.
    • Plug in the power and wait 3-4 minutes.
    • Press the reset button and hold it until you see Blinking amber.
    • Now wait until your router is re-booted. It takes 5 minutes.
    • In the mean time reset your satellite. Follow step 4.
    • Now connect the ethernet cable from your host network to Orbi router's WAN port.
    • Connect another ethernet cable from Orbi router to your laptop.
    • On your laptop access www.orbilogin.com or http://192.168.1.1
    • Now follow the instructions and complete the setup.
    • On firmware upgrade page cancel the process.
    • Download latest firmware Zip file and extract it on desktop.
    • Download latest firmware here.
    • Click Advanced > Administration > Firmware Update.
    • Select Manual Update.
    • Browse Firmware from desktop.
    • Hit upgrade.
    • You can do the same for Orbi satallite.

NOTE- You can always do the hard 30 seconds reset if it gives you the same problem.

Great information. However the satellite is not being detected by the router due to the FW is not on the same version.

You are right FURRYe38 that's why I suggested to use Ethernet connection from satellite to PC just like the orbi router.
Manually accessing and setting it up will resolve the issue.
