Orbi Satellite (RBS20) can't stay connected to Router (RBR50)
I have been trying to connect an Orbi RBS20 to my RBR50 router, but it won't stay connected for long. Here's the steps I did:
-Rest the satellite (pressed on the pin for as long as 30 seconds)
-Wait for the satellite to boot completely (white solid light), then press sync botton.
-Login to Orbilogin.com, click on add a satellite, click on Sync.
-The page will show "Satellite setup successfully" and that satellite has a solid blue light
BUT. within 30 seconds to 2 mins, the solid blue light turns to solid magenta light even when I'm not doing anything else.
I already checked with other satellites I have, all other satellites can sync and stay sync. I also checked the firmware of this satellite and manually updated it to the lastest version. I tried to completely reset both the router and satellite, tried to press on sync for 60 seconds on both router and satellite. But this particular satellite just can't stay sync. I'm out of ideas on what else to try.
Does anyone know why that happens and how to fix it?

What Firmware version is currently loaded on the RBS and RBR?
Did you press the sync button on the RBS first then the sync button on the RBR by chance as well while in the same room?
I noticed that my RBS20 also turned BLUE, then Magenta, then back to BLUE then finally OFF. It took several minutes to completely connect.
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)?

Currently, both my RBS and RBR's firmware version is V2.5.1.16.
I tried:
-Press sync on RBS first then on Orbilogin
-Click Sync on Orbilogin first then press sync on RBS
-Press on RBR and RBS at the same time (both just one time and held down while pressing the sync)
-Connected the RBS directly to RBR, that's when the sync will stay for the longest time (about 2 mins), but then turn to magenta and stays in magenta
Currently the RBR and RBS are in the same room, about 8 ft apart. When I directly connected the RBS to the RBR, the 2 units are next to each other.
Since the last time I tried to sync (which was synced successfully initially), the magenta light is on for the past 20 mins+, I doubt it will turn back to blue :(
Has a factory reset on the RBR and the RBS been performed then walk thru the setup wizard?
How many satellites do you have before adding this one?
The sync button does not need to be held down. Actually, I have no idea what happens if the sync button is held down, and it may not be good.
I believe there are two general methods:
- Press sync button on satellite.
Within 2 minutes, press sync button on router (or nearest satellite). - Open the Orbi web interface.
Select "Add Orbi Satellite" (bottom menu item)
Follow directions. (i.e. do not begin with pressing sync button. That comes later.)
I agree with you that the "blue light" is supposed to indicate "success".
What does the Orbi web interface "Attached Devices" show in terms of satellites?

Thanks for replying.
Before adding this satellite, I had 3 satellites connected (2 RBS20 and 1 RBW30). I went on the orbilogin, and removed the RBW30 from the "Attached Devices" page before trying to add the 3rd RBS20. At one time, I had 4 satellites connected to this router (2 RBS20 and 2 RBW30), and all 4 satellites were functioning great. So I know the issue is NOT because I have too many satellites connected at the same time. Currently on my "Attached Devices" page, there are only 2 satellites showing. I checked the MAC, they belong to the two RBS20 I had before, the new RBS20 is now showing.
I have tried to press the sync botton once, but it didn't work either. I read somewhere on this forum that people suggested to hold down on the sync botton. That's why I tried that. Unfortunately it didn't work.
What Firmware version is currently loaded on the RBS and RBR?
Turn OFF all other RBS and try to add the newer RBS...Reboot the RBR then try the sync buttons while you have the RBS near the RBR.
- Press sync button on satellite.
