RBK13 hooked to a Cox router

I have an Orbi RBK13 hooked to the router provided to us by Cox.

I'm noticing that I still have devices hooking up to the cox router and not the orbi's.

Do I need to shut off the wifi on the Cox router?

TIA

  • Is it a modem/router combo device or just a router?

If its a modem/router combo device, I'd recommend disabling the router part entirely. (hint, disabling wifi doesn't disable the router portion) Contact the ISP for help with that.

Otherwise you'd be in a double nat.

What actual cox devices do you have (model numbers)?

      DTC4141 Panoramic Wifi

      It's a router/wife, that's all I know.

Better information I found on my Cox App:

      Model name: CGM4140COM

      Technicolor

Most people would choose to have only a single WiFi system competing for bandwidth and channel availability.

So, yes, this forum always recommends disabling the ISP WiFi capability.
