RBK50 Router appears bricked, cannot reset router to manually install latest firmware
Hello,
I think the last firmware install bricked my RBR50 router. I am unable to communicate with the router either through thte browser or the phone app. The satelite has the magenta ring so I know the router is not communicating with it. I've unplugged and plugged it back in with no change.
In following the direction at the link below, I have been trying to do a factory reset with no luck. As soon as you plug the power cord, the light is solid green and will not change. I've tried holding in the reset button for 10 seconds, 30, and longer. No change. I power off the router, held the button while powering it up holding the button for various lengths of time with no luch. I cannot get an amber light to proceed witht the steps in the link below. Any ideas?
How to upload firmware to a NETGEAR router using Windows TFTP | Answer | NETGEAR Support
I am assuming this is all a firmware issue so that is why I am heading down this path.
Thanks in advance.

tftp can be sensitive to timings. I've ran it several times and had random times work better than others.
are you on windows? if so, follow this guide
https://kb.netgear.com/000059634/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-Windows-TFTP
just make sure you enable tftp
https://www.thewindowsclub.com/enable-tftp-windows-10
and here's a video walk through.

and if that doesn't work, you can try using nmrpflash

Thanks for the response. I am follwoing these directions but I cannot get the amber light to appear. It just stays a solid green:
- Watch the Power LED. It starts with an orange color, and then start flashing.
So I cannot get to the point to be able to use tftp.
I am using Windows 10.
I've done it with the light green.
I've also used nmrpflash when tftp wouldn't work.

I did not uinstall this one myself. The Orbi app notified me that firmware was avaiable and everything was handled through the app.

If you used the app, that is considered a manual update.
The choice was yours. It's sad that your system is now messed up, but it was your choice.
Some on here are confused about auto updates and manual updates.

- gr8shoVirtuosoHello. Are you using the paperclip method to factory reset the device? That’s supposed to be a fail safe method to recover the hardware to a known good working state.
