WiFi range is very poor on my Orbi RBR20

Hi.

I have a RBR20 router and no satellites. The WiFi signal of the router is poor. I have downloaded and ran the WiFi through the Netgear WiFi Analytics app. The result is attached. What's surprising is even when I am standing 1 feet away from the router the signal strength is 71% only i.e. - poor. I have tried from different rooms in the house and the signal only just deteriorates. I am on channel 13 and as per the analytics app i am the only one in viscinity using that channel.

My internet service provider have checked and didn't find any issues with the fiber optic. I have 2 wired connections (1 from their fiber optic device and 1 from the Orbi) and both are smooth. While my WiFi signal strength is poor the network is stable. According to my ISP I am losing out on speed and on coverage because of this issue with Orbi.

I live a single floor brick house with 5 rooms and many brick walls. I have tested by moving my Orbi to a different location but the situation is the same.

Can anyone please help me to diagnose and resolve the issue?

Thanks in advance.

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Building materials like brick will impact wifi signal on any wifi router. What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. https://kb.netgear.com/000036466/How-far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-router

      Hi.

The Orbi firmware version is 2.3.5.36.

The manufacturer of the ONT device seems to be an obscure local company but the model number written is FD600-504G-HR220.

I do not have any satelites - just the RBR20. I appreciate that bricks can cause disruptions but that doesn't explain the poor signal from 10 inches away from the router?

What wireless devices are you using?

What speeds UP and down do you with wired connections?

Try updating the RBRs FW and see:

        https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi/RBR50-RBS50-Firmware-2-5-1-16-Update/m-p/1897955/highlight/true#M89460

First manually download the RBS and RBR FW files from here.

Unpack the FW from the .zip files.

Use a wired PC for this process. Safari(Mac), IE11(Windows), Firefox or Opera browsers are recommended.

Log into the RBRs web page and send the FW file there first.

Factory reset the RBR and setup from scratch. After makeing sure the system works after setting up, be sure to make a backup configuration to file for safe keeping. This saves time if a reset is needed again.
